People are guestimating that BRZ base will be ~24K and FRS will be ~22K. To me, nicer interior, auto climate control, LED headlights and fogs are worth $2K. There is no way they will be $7k apart...that would make the FRS ~$17K - same price as a tC.

Look at the fitment on that door that covers the head unit - very upscale!!

So, to me, they did a bad job of cost cutting on the FRS. That's all.
Also missing are the quasi-CF texture on the otherwise bland, hard plastic across the dash, and the silver accents around the shifter boot, the console and the vents. Unlike dual-zone climate control and head unit, these are really cheap stuff to cut cost from (come on, it's just paint on plastic!), and does make the interior that much duller. That said, this car is for true enthusiasts and they probably don't and shouldn't care.

I think it's fine, it's not a upscale luxo sports car it's a mid 20k car. Like mentioned above car enthusiasts who buy this car is probably not gonna give a damn about the materials. Cars priced similarly are no where near as nice as this.

I was just thinking... Would it be possible to import a GT 86 to the US?

Possibly even from a Toyota dealer?

It's not that they are that much different - but I'm sure some people would want a Toyota version. Personally - I'd take a scion FIVEAXIS edition

yeah, but thats not actually correct :-).

What you see in Japanese test is pre-production interior.

They have already shown us production Scion interior:

so all that Scion is missing is some stiching (but small amount, around knee area only, rest is there), and auto AC controls...

It really feels like you guys are making too much fuss about the interior of a car where the point of the car is not about the interior.

^Looks much better with a drop, although I don't particularly dig that rim style.

They should let Aerotect borrow one for a week to make red-out film for those taillights.

I agree, the Scion version is the one where enthusiasts looking for a car to take straight to auto-x is looking for the barebones version that they can get the lightest and cheapest.

And the Scion version is just the base version that other countries get as base, and the Subaru version is the high end spec
