so widespread reports (and in my case, a confirmed sighting) of Scion dealerships marking up the FR-S with $5-7k "market adjustments".

knowing how important 1st year sales are for a car like this, what in the name of all that is holy are these dealerships thinking?!?! $32-35k for an FR-S? that's EVO/STi/Z money all day long.....

Hopefully Scion/Toyota Corporate handles this, because if a lot of Scion dealers start doing **** like this the damn thing won't sell nearly as well in it's all important 1st year sales...."
What's even more annoying is that when I called the dealership I specifically asked about mark-ups, and they told me "no no, we don't do anything like that. We do have some options and aftermarket stuff going on it, but nothing else." When I got there and saw this, I dragged the guy I talked to on the phone out and had him read me the sticker. Guy was totally clueless, and spent a solid 10 mins discussing with his GSM about how they were doing it. Came back all apologetic-like and said that was the price......

I won't be buying the car if there is a mark up in price. It's not a Ferrari.

$6k markup on a $27k car? The dealer really doesn't want the car gone, they want to keep it in the showroom. What idiot would pay this kind of money for a car made to be affordable?

Here is how the "Mark-Ups" go away....

You don't EVER buy a car with one... And I mean NEVER...!!!

I saw this back in 2006-2007 with the Mni Coopers sold by parent company BMW..

Eventually the car market will be flooded with Scion FRS's and/or Subaru BRZ's.

So paying a premium for the is just pure stupidity..!!

P.S. - and yes I know people will be paying the markup even as I type this..

I finally saw the FRS. Wow! Simple stunning and by far one of the best looking vehicles Toyota-Lexus has released in years.

I have not sat in the inside but I hope the materials are good.

Just be patient. There is always someone that just bought the the first year of production of whatever car and then for what ever reason ends up selling it at mint condition, but at a more reasonable price.

Or do what I do and wait until the second or third year of production. This doesn't mean the pricing will be reduce, but the hype might be.

....and really "market adjustment".....why, because the dealerships based it on the logic of supply and demand ?....I think not.

you mean the "mark ups" didn't include any pinstripes, chrome badging or ugly *** wheels ???

This weekend I went to our local Toyota joint in Miami and they had one there. Very impressive in person, the interior is very nice for a car at this price point.

As for the market adjustment, yes, it had one. But it was only $1,000.

Total sticker price was just over $28,000.

I've been on the 86 forum and talked to a couple people...seems markups are not the norm at all...many getting it around MSRP...

I'm scared to test drive it and like it too much...the price is fantastic.

Went to Bay Ridge Toyota/Scion yesterday to check out the FR-S........ There's one AT $261xx.xx & one MT $24,9xx.xx......no mark up or what so ever.....PURE MSRP price. The MT one was sold and awaiting pick-up. They don't offer test drive yet due to limited supply, they will offer test drive once they get more stock. However, the first test drive unit will most likely be a AT.

The material is very nice compare to car at that price range. I like the seat material
This car have so much value in it. Even the cheap looking Toyota Matrix goes MSRP for $23K.

****I find that the window automatically roll down one inch when you open the door and it roll back after you close the door. How come my SC430 don't have this feature
