C&D track test with 3 different tires: stock, stickier on stock wheels, 18" wheels, 235 rubber.

With stickier rubber it was 2 seconds faster on the track (and faster than MazdaSpeed3/WRX), bigger wheels made it slower...

Didn't someone say that the FR-S/BRZ wouldn't be better with stickier rubber?

well i said that crash would happen regardless of rubber... but we are talking here about track. Obviously you will not have stock tires on track, you will have something as sticky as rules permit.

I think people need to give kudos to Toyota for not chasing numbers - stock tires are great for road, they will also last forever, and few will ever go to the limit of their traction, on the road. On the other hand, they could have added some (actually cheaper) performance tires, that would last for 10,000 miles max and numbers would be great in testing but you would never be able to exploit it on real roads.

Luckily reviewers recognized what they were trying to do so it turned out well for them.

Those "Prius" tires are really expensive, I see many people changing them for cheaper stuff like Eagle F1 or these Dunlops on the test here, or some Toyo/Kumho/Hankook performance rubber and save $150-$250 per set.

Are you trying to say that stickier tires will not benefit on road either?!
