Indeed, it's likely any related Lexus model would get a more powerful engine. I love the idea of a new small sporty Lexus coupe...call it the GT 350...

Honda's Type-R 4cyls easily made over 200 hp. It's been done before in inline and flat-4s.

Yeah, not sure why people can fathom a 2.0l NA with 200hp... The IT-R did it with a 1.8L, the RSXs did it with a 2.0L, hell the earlier S2000s made what, 240hp from a 2.0L?

Sure they all lacked torque but that's another discussion I guess.

Honda 4 cylinders have achieved 200HP N/A, with almost no torque. They should not be part of this discussion.

Let me say it again (even thought I already mentioned this in another post):

The Subaru engine in the FT-86 *WILL HAVE* direct injection at the very least. It might have some other new technologies. This is going be a reworked and updated Subaru 2.0L engine. Toyota reworked and redeveloped parts of the engine just for this car.

2.0L Flat-4 Twin-Turbo would be nice. Light and powerful. And get over 300 hp. With semi-automatic

Now that be beautiful.

I love this new coupe, it is hot. Good work Toyota, now put out an even more powerful and luxurious version for Lexus.

Nonetheless, I think the FT-86 can potentially hit a sweet spot for Toyota if priced well in the $20,000 class...small, stylish, and sporty....whereas the larger, RX-8 size class is a harder sell, both size and costwise. Still I'd like to see a Supra-like successor...we all would.

Meanwhile, the Scion tC successor would remain FWD, leaving Toyota to get this promising RWD coupe. Celica AE86 sounds like a name...
FT-HS is supposed to hint at the rumored "Supra replacement"/mid-market sports car. The FT-HS is quite a bit longer and wider than the FT-86.

Both of them having a bit of a family resemblance would not be a bad thing at all though, if the FT-HS came to production.

All in all they are quite similar, and I really thought that the FTHS was larger than it actually is. I hope the production car has the extra few inches that the FT-HS does...it would make a big difference for most people.
Thx for the comparison info! Yes, that's what I'm getting at...though not as small as some Lotus models...or say the MR-2, it will be compact for sure. Which leaves room for a larger model...

Kinda OT but for some reason that reminds of Battlestar Galactica:

"And they have a plan."

Although the front end does have that aggressive Cylon look:

I hope the FT-HS does develop into a SUpra... it's be a shame for that trick rook to get lost in the sea of concepts/ideas that never made it to production.
