They might not have been bechmarking outright pace. Could be ride, handling... numerous other things. In anycase, it could only be a good thing if they are aspiring that high right?

It wasn't in the video, but a cayman (not cayman S) was with the mule at some point.... They might actually be benchmarking that.

As MR F1 said, perhaps they are benchmarking only ride, or handling, and not outright performance.

Good thing to have a benchmark.

It seems Toyota has their head on straight.

handling wise, why? there is no reason for it. Low weight, purpose built sports car should handle better than IS-F.

if they can build it to handle at 80% of porsche level, it's a win. esp for $20000

I hope they produce this car in a number of layouts. Mild to wild would be awesome. I would say a hybrid motor a small turbo 4 cylinder, and a V6. This thing would be awesome if it could put out in the 350 hp range in its most aggressive form. Toyota has to put out something to battle the 370Z

just saw this. I dont know if its a repost but its absolute proof that this thing is a low end low powered sports car. I think this thing would be eaten alive by the 370Z

Why is 370Z constantly mentioned? It costs 30-50 and is NOT its intended competition.:

If the sales of the FT-86 goes well, then we can see a new Supra, if it doesn't then Toyota might have to go back to the route of f-it they aren't buying sporty cars

That I do expect. If no one else draws the gun before this comes to market, Toyota are going to make a killing on the FT-86.

What I do also expect, is that 3/4 of those *****ing for a "new supra" won't buy it when it eventually does come.
