Cool interview with the car's senior designer. Also there's rumors that the production FT-86 will make its appearance at Geneva!

Toyota FT-86 redesign rumors are UNTRUE! Production version coming to Geneva « » 11:32 AM 2-19-2010

There was a nasty rumor a couple weeks back that the FT-86 design was scrapped for a crappier design. Well if it has, then the senior designer at the Toyota design studio which designed the original FT-86 concept's design doesn't even know about it.

Here's the Q&A with him:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=413

Article also indicates that the production version will be coming to Geneva!!

Thank goodness those rumors were false. Calty did a great job with the LF-Ch but the FT-86 design is great already.

They'll likely have to revise the wedge shaped hood-to-bumper area. Hit at a fairly decent speed that'll cut someone in half!

I think it's due to the up-sweep into the fender it looks very "Wedge-y". In side profile the front end isn't actually all that sharp. Probably a minor "blunting of the front license plate area and smoothing over the big kinks from the concept will make it production/NHTSA/Euro NCAP friendly.

Which is slightly unfortunate since I like the kinks and creases...

I keep drooling over the concept car pics. I have the same concerns on how this will translate into production version.

here is autocar article:
http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsAr...llCars/247566/

Basically Toyoda himself likes the exterior, so we should see something close to it )he says bonnet needs to be raised by 2" to meet regulations), and he laughed when he asked about interior being production ready ;-).

They started working on chasis in 2005, and design in mid 2008.
