my buddy from US told me he likes the iQ but he would never buy it as it is Scion and he would never drive Scion... which was very surprising as he is not kind of guy that I would take to care about badge.

In my opinions, this car should definitely be sold as a Toyota, not Scion. It will sell more because as we have seen here, Scion branding would keep some people from buying one. Simple enough.
This car appeals to broader base. Like it or not, the youth branding of Scion does have some drawbacks. Car enthusiasts know what the car is about and will buy the car regardless of what emblem is on the hood, but Joe/Jane Sixpack might want a more "established" brand.
More importantly, the Toyota brand needs a more exciting car in their line up.

The last time we saw the FR-S, it was dressed like an STi camper van and while that may work for the Subaru version of the "toyobaru" rear drive sports car, it probably wouldn't fly for Scion.
Now, however, we've got something much more Scion (with a little Audi and G37 thrown in for good measure) and much closer to what we could see in a production version. Like real brakes, dual exhaust and a sane rear wing. And would you look at that, the front brake calipers are front mounted which means -- altogether now -- rear-mounted steering rack. What that means, however is up for debate. Sometimes it means AWD -- except that Subaru still manages a front-mount steering rack with AWD because, well, better steering. Sometimes it means easier packaging.

oh boy. they went with most of the FT86ii as the final design. ![Frown](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
and they really really toned it down to the point of bastardization.

they rounded out the front and rear lights. and they removed the fancy hood.
this might even be the subaru version. can anyone make out the front emblem indent? it looks more like the subie logo size.
someone noted that these are subie wheels.

those front lights look like concept ones... and like new Camry's, IQs, Verso-S, just aggressive type.... Also front fenders bulge into the hood very similar to the concept, just hard to see with camo.
