i dont know what are you arguing about - this car is made to be lightweight RWD, easy to drift for beginners car.
to put awd into it would mean to go against the basic principles of why this car was built.

Agree. This car is marketed as AE86's successor( LOL sorry but this car is not the real replacement for AE86.) It supposed to be light, compact, RWD, and affordable with decent power to go sideway. Using AWD system will destroy the purpose of making the car, why?
- Add weight
- Add cost
- not RWD anymore

I don't want AWD in this car. Never said I did. I like RWD as much as the next person, but I also like AWD.

What I'm against is Kurtz is saying AWD is useless dead weight.

Have you guys read the new MT issue about Subaru BRZ? Sounds like the author is giving most of the credit to Subaru.

Well it does have a Subaru suspension and drivetrain, although with an Aisin transmission. But it does appear Subaru did most of the chassis design while Toyota penned the styling and might have done the interior.

Toyota owns 20% of Subaru, so either way it doesn't matter who did what.

The previous pics of the FT-86's brochure were shot at an angle so the images were distorted. Now the thread has been updated with better and clearer pics. Aside from the taillights I'm really loving it.

Someone has a close image of the fender vents/decos? It looks like a Chevy badge.
The car is low, probably just needs a 1 inch drop!

That's just the official logo of the FT-86.

Basic shape of the car makes for a nice blank canvas. It will look great with light modification!

He is implying, not inferring.

I had an IS250 6MT (with intake & exhaust for what that matters) and the car was never traction limited.

But let's let some basic math answer our question. A car with summer performance tires should have a coefficient of friction around .8 - let's assume .5 for the sake of argument because it highlights our point even better.

A 2400 lb car, with 4 wheels, assuming equal weight on all tires, gives 600 lbs of normal force per tire. This would require 300 lbs of force to break traction.

Assuming 20" diameter of tire + wheel, this translates to requiring 250 lb-ft of torque at the hub.

So, even in conditions approaching what one would see in wet conditions, a 200 hp car simply is not traction limited.

*edit* And that doesn't even account for an LSD, which this car will have.

If the Scion is going to have dual zone climate control for 25k, that is a real nice bargain

Are you saying that car never broke traction under any circumstances?
