Not what I would call sporty, when I was thinking replacement for the GTO I really had something more agressive in mind.

The price is competitive, and definately will make a lot of people check it out.

However, this is not the most profitable vehicle to play with. The G8 is in the same class as Toyota Avalon, Ford Taurus (the new kind), and even the GS350/460; all of which are niche vehicles. It will get some people to notice Pontiac, but I don't think it will ultimately define the brand...

I haven't the faintest idea what you're talking about. The Middle East Impala (actually Caprice Classic ) is this car -

Which is based on this car - Holden Statesman.

The Pontiac G8 in the original post is a totally different model - the Holden VE Commodore which is also sold in Europe as the Vauxhall VXR8.

Here's that a pic of the latter car

Yup. They just took the badge off and put it on the car just like GM does

The ES350 and Camry arent the same car. Same frame? yes. Similar engine options? Yes, but so do all the other Toyotas. Same car? No.

The rebadge argument is akin to saying the current Maxima is a rebadged Altima or that the Ridgeline is a rebadged Accord.

However, sit in a Monte Carlo and tell me it isnt a 2door Pontiac Grand Prix. Or that a Pontiac Sunfire isnt a Cavalier. Or that a GMC Sierra isnt a Chevy Silverado

I agree... ALSO why is everyone talking about re-badging, its a chevy, DUH!!! Do we really have such a boring life that we have to point out the 'common knowledge' stuff???

1st person: Oh did you see the blue sky?
2nd person: Yes the sky was blue.
3rd person: It was blue over my house too.

Will GM even be making any profit on the G8 at that price?
