I never liked any Pontiacs before this one. The G8 is one sweet ride.

Give me a break. How many RWD V8 4 door sedans on the market have an available MT these days? (Trying to think of any... does the BMW 550i even offer it any longer? And how many do they sell, 3 a month? )

Once again, all the trash talkers here if it's not Toyota or Lexus. I know this is ClubLexus, but get a grip guys, and try to see something good in something other than Toyota or Lexus once in a while.

This looks like a great car.

I have to roll with bit here. Lexus offers the IS manual in the IS 250. Yippie

probably a loss, GM saw the 300C selling like hotcakes and decided they wanted to join the action. Meanwhile the 300C stops selling but GM was already too far in development and they had already gotten their customer base riled up. Too late to cancel the program.

Like the Dodge Charger their is a limited market for such a vehicle and it's the sort of car the general marketplace didn't ask for. For the first 2yrs I'm sure it will sell to GM loyalists but then the loyalists run out and the car won't go anywhere. Remember this car is a ripoff, 30K doesn't get you leather or sunroof. zero luxury, and it isn't much cheaper than an IS350.

4100lbs G8 GT = 11.33 hp per lb
3650lb IS350 = 11.93 hp per lb

all that power and I doubt it's much faster, if any at all.

if GM wanted to build the car right they would have controlled the weight but that would require some engineering and things like high quality steel etc.

G8 GT
McPherson struts in the front
front rotors: 11.73 in
rear rotors: 11.89in

IS350
front rotors: 13.15in
rear rotors: 12.20in

4100lbs and tiny brakes wtf, I hope that's a typo.

GM uses very good brakes on there cars. You will notice that you can hit
100k without touching the rotors vs. our cars 20-40K. I believe this is the first year they started using four wheel discs brakes on the Tahoes and Suburbans.

GM does not make any money on the Pontiac Solstice or Saturn Sky, they actually lose money on the car.

1. Do you see me lauding Toyota or Lexus? No, I don't own one.

2. MTs: the S4, RS4, CTS-V, 550.

I don't think its unreasonable that this car be offered in a MT.

The Pontiac G8 in the original post is a totally different model - the Holden VE Commodore which is also sold in Europe as the Vauxhall VXR8.

Here's that a pic of the latter car

[/QUOTE]

not only that, but the rumored upcoming g8 gxp could be similar to the vauxhallvxr8 i was reading here

http://www.g8power.com/forums/showthread.php?t=164

here is a pshop too of this car
