Default MT hybrid comaro: Camry v. Altima v. Aura

Rankings:

1) Altima
2) Camry
3) Aura

Didn't read the article in depth. They quipped that the issue could be a collector's item because this is the first time a Toyota has ever lost a hybrid comparo.

Is this a new comparison? I believe we had a thread on this already.

No, Lord Helmet. It's a new one. The Altima won, although there seems to be lots of caveats from the writers.

Well a link, a pic, a date, something from the OP would have been useful, especially since Edmunds compared these same cars.

I am glad Toyota sold NIssan its technology. The more hybrids the better.

It's in the latest Motor Trend. There probably isn't an on-line link yet.

So how did an older tech Altima win out? Was it sportier driving? Afterall, most potential-buyers of hybrid vehicles are all about the racecar-feel suspension and quick steering

From what I recall The Altima matched or surpassed the other's fuel efficiency while having better chassis dynamics and performance. There was also a lot of mumbo-jumbo about fuel and ownership taxes which seems to favor the Altima, but I can't convey that clearly. You'll just have to read it.

Wow, this is the second time in a row the Altima smacked down its hybrid competition. It seems Nissan really knows how to balance fuel efficiency with good handling and road feel. Nice job, Nissan

I should mention that, just as in the other comparison, the Aura wasn't even competitive.

If you read the Edmunds link, it was far from a smackdown. They just preferred it. We don't even know the logistics of this current comparison until WE SEE IT.

It seems Nissan has another winner with the Altima and balances TOYOTA technology. Its a hybrid not just of the gas/battery model but using another companies tech.

Nissan needs to leverage it and offer more hybrid Altimas, and not just in 8 states. Toyota averages about 5,000 Camry hybrids a month.

It's a sign for Nissan to sell more NAHs and also a sign to Carlos Ghosn that you're not gonna pull this trick off by quoting poor sales by limiting the states that can sell it.

The Altima is sportier to drive and has a few more hp than the TCH but the TCH has better mileage according to Edmunds.

Here's the link. Not sure why it's not given

Point of true hybrids:
GM:
0-60: 10.5 sec
MPG: 33.7 mpg

Toyota:
0-60: 7.7 sec
MPG: 38.5 MPG

Nissan slightly sportier, bigger taxback (which is why it won), faster 0-60, less mpg, less trunk.
