Subaru has finally taken the wraps off its new Impreza WRX STI ahead of its world debut at the Tokyo Motor Show at the end of the month. The car is developed from the current Impreza hatch but picks up shortened front and rear overhangs, a longer wheelbase and widened body flares. Integrated into its front bumper is a pair of fog lights with chrome accents and side vents feeding cold air to the car’s brakes.
Under the hood resides a heavily revised version of Subaru’s venerable 2.0L boxer engine, fed by a twin-scroll turbocharger and mated to a six-speed manual gearbox only. No official details have been released for the output figures but information leaked from a brochure reveals the new STI will likely develop up to 304hp and 311lb-ft of torque.
Drive will be sent to all four-wheels via Subaru’s symmetrical AWD system and the new multi-mode Drivers Control Center Differential (DCCD), Subaru Intelligent Driver (SI-Drive) and Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC).

Thanks, Andrew. This picture tells me something I was wondering.....if the WRX and STi was going to have a temperature gauge or not (the answer, obviously, is yes). The new 2008 American-spec regular Impreza DOESN'T (see my review). Go figure.

i know a lot of ppl out there think that this re-designed Impreza is not as good looking as the previous generation. However, this is the first time, I am actually thinking of getting a Subaru. This STi is just what I am hopping to put in my garage.
