Default MINI SUV gets go-ahead

There are some things that should just not happen IMO.
This is one of them

BMW is planning a range of new products to sit under its MINI brand, with the first being this MINI SUV

There are busy times ahead for BMW, after the German company announced a raft of new models across its range of brands.

These include a MINI SUV, which Auto Express revealed in Issue 965. Likely to be based on the Clubman, this car will feature raised suspension and tough body cladding.

BMW is also planning a compact off-roader, based on the 1-Series. Called the X1, it will sit below the X3 in the line-up and blend coupé styling cues with off-road elements.

In addition, a four-door grand tourer – inspired by the CS concept seen at this year’s Shanghai Motor Show – is on the drawing board. And Auto Express has also learned that the manufacturer is planning a two-seater supercar, which will be named the M10. Intended as a rival to the Audi R8, it’s set to be powered by a 500bhp 5.0-litre V10.

A twin-turbo 5-Series, badged 555i, is on the cards as well, while BMW-owned Rolls-Royce has given its 101EX cabrio the green light.

I agree, I dont know how well a Mini SUV would fair against the Honda CR-V. SUV and Mini dont go well together.

oh dear god.. what the hell is happening in Europe? First the CLS, then the A5, then the 1 series, the upcoming Passat "coupe" and then the Porsche Panamera.

A twin turbo V8 I'd assume. My God, how much hp does one need? Why buy an M5 if you could just get twin turbo V8?

However, somebody is going to end up buying this thing. I can just see at a BMW dealer and someone thinking to themselves, "hey, this is going to make me stand out" In fact, I get the sense with the large model range of BMW, that this is just the thinking they want people to have

The Mini is made by a company that defies the conventional. The new X6 is an example along with this proposed Mini SUV. I am sure it will handle too, thus defying the conventional once again.

Can the Toyota Rav4? One can by an X5 for that. Once the yacht is unhitched, owners can go out and carve some corners in the X5.

As a MINI owner, that SUV is a disgrace and against everything MINI is about. Or at least what they want owners to think they are about.

And for the record, I tow a jet ski behind my MINI. Does a damn fine job, too.
