Give it about 6 months for the suspension to settle, then it will not ride as smooth as when new. This is true for all vehicles.

When we test drove the coupe, poor salesman was squished in the back. We felt sorry for him, but he insisted
You're right, the GS is almost as small as the IS even though it is larger on the outside. With four inches of less leg room though, sitting in the back seat of an IS would just be punishment! The G35 rear leg room is barely enough for me but I still rub a little. Most people judge the roominess of a car by the amount of leg space they have. The G and IS are tied for front leg space and actually both have more room than the GS! Come to think of it, aside for rear log room, the IS is pretty much the same size as the GS where it counts.

G35 IS 350 GS 350
Front Headroom 40.5 in. 37.2 in. 37.8 in.
Rear Headroom 37.7 in. 36.7 in. 37 in.
Front Shoulder Room 55.6 in. 54.4 in. 56.3 in.
Rear Shoulder Room 55.2 in. 52.7 in. 55.1 in.
Front Hip Room 55.1 in. 54.1 in. 54.4 in.
Rear Hip Room 53.7 in. 53.7 in. 51.4 in.
Front Leg Room 43.9 in. 43.9 in. 43.5 in.
Rear Leg Room 34.7 in. 30.6 in. 36.4 in.

Formatted your data a bit. Very interesting.

Code:
                       G35 IS 350 GS 350
Front Headroom 40.5 37.2 37.8
Rear Headroom 37.7 36.7 37
Front Shoulder Room 55.6 54.4 56.3
Rear Shoulder Room 55.2 52.7 55.1
Front Hip Room 55.1 54.1 54.4
Rear Hip Room 53.7 53.7 51.4
Front Leg Room 43.9 43.9 43.5
Rear Leg Room 34.7 30.6 36.4
IS having 4.1" less leg room than G35 makes it pretty clear why the IS is so cramped back there.

How can the GS be wider than the G35 but have less front/rear shoulder room?

Appreciate the data

Yeah, GS is slightly bigger but not so much on the inside.
Maybe the door panels are pushed closer to the cabin for the sound insulation, speakers, and all those internal goodies?

Regarding the suspension settling, hopefully it won't be too harsh. She drove a grand cherokee for a couple of years, so getting back into a sedan will take some readjustments also.

Still no pictures yet. We're going to get the windows tinted, so I'll get some by then.

I love the new G35 sedan. I almost bought a 07 for $35k+ttt for a Black/Black Journey with Nav, premium, and performance rims/tires package. But finally I wanted to sell my 03 G35 sedan first so wait a few days, and I realized that the 08 G35 sedan and 08 IS350 had arrived so tried to find what kind of deal I could get for both cars. Anyways I ended up with a black/black IS350 and love it. Please post some pics. If your friend bought a Journey, right now there is a front lip spoiler available and it looks soooo nice. If it is a Sport, then it is nice looking the way it is anyways.

She's got the Journey with sports package. Is this lip available at the dealer?

Sorry for the late reply. No it is an aftermarket lip spoiler. Here is the link:

http://www.japanparts.com/db/partsli...maker=&volkey=

If she wants to see how it looks on a Black car, she could go to the
G35driver.com and click into the picture share section of the 07 G35 sedan and find the thread. I want to post the link here but I don't know if I am allowed to do so or not. One of the members there posted his Black Journey with the lips on and it looks soooooooooooooooooooo good. But I think for 08, the front bumper of a Journey with sport package is the same as the 07 Sport's front bumper. So this lip wouldn't be suitable. But I am not sure.
