get the front tint lighter than the rear tint or a lighttime... you should be fine as long as it doesn't conceal your entire Silhouette... just be aware of the cops with nothing better to do in the late evenings or early mornings... well i live in california and we have some of the strictest vehicle laws...

I do have a legal reason to have a film put on (my wife had skin cancer) but it must be clear tint (black not allowed). I appreciate all of the insight. I think I am going to move forward with it and see how it goes.

The simple answer to your questions is this.

1) Find out how much a tint ticket is in your state.

2) Ask yourself if you care if you had to pay this amount once every year or 2 years. (Although it depends on your luck and frequency of getting pulled over.)

Although there are laws about tint, I still find it to be a grey area for police.

I have actually been pulled over 4-5 times for my 5% (limo tint) on my GS, and I have only been ticketed 1 time. The tint ticket was only included when I was caught speeding at 18mph over. BTW the tint ticket was more than the speeding ticket.

I have had illegal tint on my various cars for almost a decade, and I have only had 1 ticket. I find that the appearance & (security/privacy) of tint outweight a $50-$70 cost every 2-3 years.

35-40% tint looks, IMO, classy if done all around. Stick with that, it'll look good, not be very conspicuous, and won't significantly impact visual acuity. If you live in PA near MD, you can get it done there.

Because sometimes the government (especially CA) doesnt know what its talking about And not all people see the same way at night; I believe I have rather good night vision; glare doesnt bother me unless its glare from the sun and I fix that problem with good sunglasses.

also keep in mind the color of the cars exterior and interior plays a dramatic role in making the tint look darker or lighter but many high end cars have dark tint and cops don't look twice at them, I've also realized that many cops have illegal tint on their cars so they will not give you a tint ticket for something they also do

I beg to differ... Have you not seen cops run red lights and speed like crazy?
