I think it boils down to perspective and what the driver previously had. For example:

I was approaching 32mpg when I did mostly highway driving. If it's my normal work day, I'm around 22-25mpg on my IS250.

I had a 98 Civic as a daily driver for the past 10 years before I replaced it with my IS250 and if I look at it from that point of view it guzzles a lot of gas compared to my Honda. I used to fill up every 10-14 days; now on an average week, I fill up every 5-8 days.

GS400 gets about 15 city and 20 highway. Mix is about 18 MPG.

Before I changed the air filter it was about 13 city and 16 highway.

Depends on the price of gas (high and of poor quality), what altitude (high) and how I like to drive (fast)... so right now it is a gas guzzler

One of the reasons I purchased my 2007 ES350 was the great gas mileage.

I'm getting between 32 & 36 mpg on the highway, depending upon my speed.

I get 26 mpg in my everyday mixed commuting.

I don't do much strict city driving, but when I do it drops to between 20and 21 mpg.

All on 87 octane.

I consider this excellent economy from a car of this size and 274 hp. Far better than the ES330 it replaces.
