Default SEMA: Cadillac CTS Sport Concept

Cadillac is intent on branding the CTS as a performance player that can hold its own against the stalwarts of the segment, and until a V-badged version comes to market, those who have shunned its Germanic competition are forced to come to the party packing at most 300 ponies. The CTS Sport is a stopgap concept that brings the interior and exterior up a few notches, while only boosting performance to 304 HP via a free flowing Corsa cat-back exhaust.

The majority of the tweaks come from a revised exterior that includes a modified hood, new front and rear fascias incorporating wire mesh and carbon fiber, along with a new spoiler, revised headlamps, polished dubs, yellow calipers and brake ducting with LED lighting. On the inside, the CTS Sport features thrones by Recaro, carbon fiber trim and BlueConnect Bluetooth integration wired into the headliner.

As a whole it certainly has our attention, even though our good taste has had to take a back seat.

LOL, exactly. What kind of luxury car maker comes out with an "all new" version of a car and have the exterior look identical to the former model?

I guess they must really think that box on wheels looks just so amazing that they couldn't even imagine changing it

Doesn't look bad, although I think it can do without the fender and hood vents.

Funny thing is, it is the new model. That's how indistinguishable the old model and new are.

The G35/37 and the CTS did the same thing, look almost like the previous model. Audis do it for the most part, Lexus did it with the 2LS.

The G37 coupe looks similar to the older model, but not the sedan. The rear, the front, the swoop of the lines from front to back are completely different on the new G35 sedan from the old one. Of course there are some similarities, but that's just product resemblance with any model line. The 2LS was still different enough from the original model to distinguish it as being the newer model (different grille, different exhaust, different rear lights, etc).

The "new" CTS looks exactly the same from the outside. I see them all the time and I can never tell if its a newer model or older model. Are there any differences at all with the new CTS? Looks like the exact same sheet metal to me. Can hardly even call it a refresh

It's true that the new CTS looks almost exactly the same as the old one, especially from the sides and the rear. Same thing with the new G35 sedan. Every time I see a G35 sedan on the roads I can never tell if it's the new or old model unless I get a good look at the front end.

I have said this for a while now making new gen models look very similar to old models will backfire on automakers who engage in this practice. The new gen models will look dated very fast.
