Infiniti is definitely stepping up their game big time and they seem to want to take more chances with their line rather than play it conservative.

I didn't see this posted here, but I read on another board that Infiniti has trademarked the names M30d, G30d, FX30d, & EX30d. It seems they will be offering diesel engines in their lineup as well very soon. And with the news of them working on their hybrids, it should be very interesting to see what else they have to offer in the next couple of years.
We had a thread on the diesels, Infiniti will be using Renault diesels in their cars, likely the ones mentioned. It will help in Europe.

As for the 5.0 V-8, its a natural progession. The cars/SUVs had class leading or near class leading HP 5 years ago and the competition brought out their new engines.

390hp would be tops in pretty much every class for a non limited production car. I say that because the IS-F has a 5.0 V-8 making 416hp currently.

So the VQ motor is out for 13 yrs??? Give me a break!
Yes but it is simply a gem and a brilliant engine, making tons of power and it is in so many different products. Its the reason everyone now has a 3.5 or bigger V-6.

The question is, are they finally going to upgrade their transmission?

So what exactly are you trying to say here? The VQ has been around for 13 years. One of the best v6s ever created

Seeing as how the M45 has a tad bit more power (5hp/1ftlb) over the FX45, the M50 may get the same dose of power boost. This could translate to 395hp for the M50, or maybe Infiniti will go ***** out for another 10hp (400hp ) just to get to the next level.

As far as power is concern, the M50 will be leaps and bounds ahead of the 'new' GS460.

How about a reliable 6AT like in the Lexus RWD vehicles

As for the "M50" my guess is it will break the 400HP barrier.

Infiniti is really going to start a horsepower war with this engine.

With the next FX confirmed to be built with lighter materials and to stay around the same size as the current coupled with this engine, were talking about Cayenne Turbo territory.

I think they actually started this war, or re-kindled it at least a few years ago. They're just going to push it some more... I cant wait to see a G50 though, that would be awesome. I think they'd do well to offer both a G50 and G37 though.

Ahh yes, the "new" GS460, with what some so-called experts claimed was going to have 400hp, which will in reality only pump out 342hp. The M50, if only () putting out 390hp, will crush the GS460 in performance (not like it wasn't doing that already in practically every single comparo since 2005).

They are very reliable. The ES is the only having issues. THe LS, GS, IS don't. Lexus transmissions historically are bulletproof.

Conclusion: 18 years of bulletproof trannies vs a few ES 350s having issues.

What 4 Lexus have you owned with issues and do you have pics?
This is another example of you spouting off Lexus hate as it is obvious the Lexus 6 speed AT has no issues outside a few ES 350s.

Switch out the gunky Toyota Type IV fluid and exchange it Amsoil Universal Synthetic.. Your tranny problems will be a thing of the past.
