Without trying to bash or flame anyone or any marque, the numbers sure indicate that Lexus and MB own the large luxury sedan market. I know you might be able to make an argument that the 1200 sales of the 7 aren't that far off of the 2100 of the S class but I don't see it that way. The S class has been out significantly longer than the LS and is a fair amount more expensive so those 2100 sales in its life impresses me. When you put the LS and the S together they sell roughly 5,000 cars a month. If you put the 7 and the A8 together they sell 1,500 cars a month.

Pity the poor A8, a good car that doesn't get anywhere. Something that I have noticed about Audi dealers and please, I understand this is from my limited experience trying to buy Audi's for something like twenty years, is that their dealers are the worst of the lot. Whenever I try to buy an Audi I am met with an air of indifference to me and little to no interest in trying to deal on a car that the market is voting against. And this spans my interest in everything from the Audi 100 to the last couple of weeks looking at A8s. I know Audi wants to seriously compete with bimmer and MB, haven't mentioned Lexus but they obviously would like to compete with them as well, but they have a long way to go to get there IMO. I just can't point at the product as being the reason for the lethargic Audi sales. Pity.

Wow, you're right!

BMW: 26,821
Lexus: 25,119

Isn't this the first time BMW has surpassed Lexus in US sales since Lexus took over the top spot? Anyone know for sure?

I wonder if this is going to be a trend.
BMW must be thrilled with this news.

BMW has always sold more cars than Lexus, Lexus just sells more vehicles (in the US)

Sorry but your BMW number includes the MINI-branded cars. Without them BMW sold only 23,451.

BMW cars (i.e. no SUVs/trucks) on the other hand have been leading the market for a long time already and it's no news.

Ahh, Ok, just noticed that. They're alot closer to Lexus than they used to be, though. No doubt its due primarily to the 3 series sales. 11,000+ units in one month - unbelievable.

Mazda Reports Double Digit Sales Increase for Third Straight Month

- October sales up 17.8 percent; YTD sales up 9.9 percent -

IRVINE, Calif., Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Mazda North American Operations
(MNAO) today reported its best October since 2001 with U.S. sales of 22,201
units, a 17.8 percent increase versus the same period last year.
Year-to-date sales of 250,597 are up 9.9 percent year-over-year.

Mazda Motor de Mexico (MMdM) celebrated its best-ever sales month with
1,532 vehicles sold representing an increase of 91 percent over October
2006. On a year-to-date basis, MMdM reported 13,074 total sales, an
increase of 141 percent.

Rounding out North America, Mazda Canada, Inc. reported its best
October since 1997 with sales of 6,040 units, accounting for a 1.0 percent
increase versus last year. On a year-to-date basis, sales are up 8.4
percent with 77,133 units sold.

The three-row, seven-passenger Mazda CX-9 crossover SUV, which was
recently named 2008 Sport/Utility of the Year(TM) by Motor Trend, recorded
its best-ever sales month with 3,145 units. This also marks the first time
CX-9 has eclipsed the 3,000-unit mark in a single month. Mazda's two other
crossover SUVs -- CX-7 and Tribute -- also posted strong sales of 3,280 and
1,516 units respectively. To date, Mazda has sold more than 66,000
crossover SUVs.

With October sales of 8,157 units, the wildly popular MAZDA3 has
surpassed the 100,000-unit mark for the year, making it MAZDA3's best-ever
year with two months still remaining. Its previous best year was in 2005
when it recorded 97,388 units sold.

"As changeable as this month has been -- from the continual rise of oil
prices to the California wildfires -- sales started strong and stayed that
way all month for us," said Jim O'Sullivan, MNAO President and CEO. "As we
look toward the end of the year, Mazda's strong sales numbers are proof
that we're selling the right cars at the right price, and this is bringing
the right customers into our dealerships."

Headquartered in Irvine, Calif., Mazda North American Operations
oversees the sales, marketing, parts and customer service support of Mazda
vehicles in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico through
nearly 900 dealers. Operations in Canada are managed by Mazda Canada, Inc.,
located in Ontario, Canada, and in Mexico by Mazda Motor de Mexico in
Mexico City.

Hyundai Motor America Reports October Sales

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Hyundai Motor America's
popular Santa Fe and Sonata vehicles posted sales increases of 15 percent
and 28 percent, respectively, for the month of October. Additionally, the
fuel-efficient Accent posted strong sales, up 32 percent over October 2006.
Overall, sales for the month were relatively flat at 30,232, compared with
30,479 one year ago.

"We are hopeful the arrival of our 2008 models in showrooms will
mitigate some of the uncertain economic conditions in the fourth quarter
and sales will improve through the end of the year and build momentum
heading into 2008," said Bob Pradzinski, Hyundai Motor America's director,
national sales.

All Hyundai vehicles sold in the U.S. are covered by The Hyundai
Advantage, America's Best Warranty. Hyundai buyers are protected by a
10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, a 5-year/60,000-mile
bumper-to-bumper warranty, a 7-year/unlimited-mile anti-perforation
warranty and 5-year/unlimited-mile roadside assistance protection.

ATLANTA--Porsche Cars North America, Inc.

Pity.
Residuals - that is what plagues Audi. A serious number of these cars are leased and Audi just does not have the resale value to have impressive lease numbers.

The 7-series is in its 6th year - although it did receive a slight restyle a year or so ago. Even so, you and I both know, that in addition to residual, the newer the car in this segment (in all segments of course) the better it will do. As we have seen, BMW has not been doing the cut rate lease deals on this car like they have in the past - so not so bad keeping it in the 1,200 per month if you ask me. Still as one of the BMW loyalists on this board, if I was in the market for one of these cars the S-Class would probably get my vote although that Alpina B7 sure is sweet.....

And the fact that 12% or so of Camrys go to fleet sales does not hurt either....

I'm just amazed at the overall high numbers... makes you wonder how serious the 'credit crunch' that is talked about.

o/t I might be wrong, but I think a ton of all these foreclosures right now are investors who bought property not to live in on an ARM, the properties didn't go up in value so they couldn't sell, the ARM interest starts to go up, and they walk away.
