2008 Monster 696
The new Monster 696 is the next generation naked and the final word in urban excitement.
Ride the Monster 696 in relaxed city style or, when the spirit moves you, unleash its dark side to deliver more naked performance than ever before.
Advanced development of the Ducati Desmo L-Twin engine ensures that the new 696 is as powerful as it is iconic. A comfortable and confidence-inspiring chassis marries high-performace handling with tractable power.
Cult styling makes the Monster the most beloved beast in sport bike history. Now, the balance of new technologies is combined with stylish finished materials, a new graphics package and colour-matched component parts.
The 696 looks more muscular than ever. Its wide tank tapers to a comfortably narrow seat - ensuring sure-footed confidence at traffic lights.
The large diameter Hybrid Trellis frame connects with a high-tech aluminum sub-frame and beautiful sculptural swing arm.
Minimalist instrumentation and simple controls contrast with big bold twin Ducati-style mufflers at the rear.

please... for the love of all that is good, don't compare a Hayabusa to a ducati. I'm a Yamaha fan/R6 owner, i love me some Jap bikes, but the 'Busa is just such a monstrosity.... its not even fast by 1000 standards anymore

I dont think you can put the words "Hayabusa" and "Ducati" in the same sentence.......
