Likewise sir.
About your extending my home building analogy saying the roofer could cut corners to save $... even then the builder can inspect the work and easily spot corners that were cut. If the builder is smart and doesn't want headaches later with warranty claims for a leaking roof or whatever, then he'll force the roofer to redo or fix it or they don't get paid.
It's like that scene in A Bug's Life where the ant says it wasn't her fault and the grasshopper says "First rule of leadership: everything is your fault!"

Typically, you're right; Toyota does a lot of things in-house. Due to the huge focus on growth over the past few years in the company though, it led to more outsourcing and the quality problems that have been occuring.

Double standard? Well, Toyota is seemingly using new suppliers that they've never used before in the US on the Tundra...It may or may not be a supplier issue. But the bottom line is Efforts=Results, and so far, things could be far better according to the company. So far, Toyota hasn't blamed any of its suppliers for these woes (if they have, it is an internal "supplier issue" rather than news). Detroit has done more fingerpointing at their suppliers than most other car companies (i.e. Ford & Firestone).
