Are Continentals all that great? My Legacy was 5 years old when I got it and it had Continentals on it and they had a decent amount of tread on them, but the side walls were so awful on three of them that I replaced them immediatley with some Goodyear RS-As.

It is the runflats. It does not bother me much. Leaving it as is because I don't know what affect normal tires would have on the TPM on the 335 sport.

It is the runflats. I noticed a difference when my son got rid of the runflats. IE: softer better ride, and definetly quieter in the car. He drives a GS300AWD

Well my dad hasnt been home to contact BMW yet. But I guess he went to the goodyear dealer for a tire for his tractor and talked to the salesman about it. Apparently the salesman has a 7 series and he says when all BMWs hit 15,000 miles and they make this noise, run flat tires or not. He also said that he brother has a 3 series and he has tried all kinds of tires (the latest being Michellins) and they still make noise after they wear down a bit.

This doesn't seem right to me. My last set of tires on my Legacy were Continentals and they last 40,000 miles without horrible noises.

You don't need to focus on this being a bimmer if he has 15,000 miles on it. Go to the tire forum here and see how many people with Lexus complain about modern tires getting noisy long before they are worn out. 15K is definitely where the noise is an issue with a lot of tires. We complained about the noise from the Bridgestone's on my wife's GS3 two days after she bought it and Lexus swapped out the tires for AVS db's which were better. This is a moving target as the next gen AVS db's were lousy. She has a Michelin now that is pretty good and I am having luck with Pirelli's on my Lexus but after 15K, all of them are making a lot of noise, much more than new. I haven't noticed the runflats being much noisier than other tires, just rougher riding.

broken wheel bearings make a different type of noise and produce vibrations as well

my RE050 on my IS are starting to make a lot of noise, they only have 3-4k miles left, tires get noisier as they get worn down.

According to BMW all of the E92s do this because of the design of their suspensions. Complaints are also coming from 5 and 6 series owners.

Wait a minute, I thought BMW took care of the maintenance on the cars for the first 50k miles or 4 years? So what gives on that?

Yeah not tires apparently.

Which the salesman said to us that not enough people wanted to own BMWs because of the expense which is why they did the 4 years scheduled maintence.
