Lol, I thought hte article was saying how having a customized plate makes u easier to be spotted and mugged // vandalized...

for instance...my bass is blasting...the robber cudnt get all the numbers of the plate down...but if it said sexylexy....he cud remember that next time and know that thats the vehicle with the basss and rob it..

it makes it easier for robbers because they are more sure its the car with the goods in it!!

no????

This is just another argument that can't be proven and really makes no sense. We are to believe that with identical cars, except that one has a personalized plate, the owner with the vanity plate is more apt to get mugged?? I don't buy it. A mugging is a crime of opportunity. The mugger isn't trolling around looking for a personalized plate, he is looking for a victim in a situation who looks like he/she has something of value, and the perp won't get caught. What kind of plate you have doesn't enter into the equation, imo.

And where is the source of that information in the original article? They are just a list of items. Were they made up by the writer?? To me it's just another lousy, poorly researched article. And on Yahoo! Finance, no less.

It's vanity plates that paint the person as an easy or weak target, not necessarily one with the fanicer car. ie "PRNCESS" or "GRANDMA" or "CUTIE82"

It goes hand and hand with those stickers you see on the back of SUV's that list every member of the family starting with Dad all the way down to the dogs. Why don't you put your address on there too, with Social Security numbers.

There was an article just in the news about thousands of false parking tickets being issued in Baltimore. Many had transposed digits and others were just totally faked.

If you have a vanity plate that is easily read then you should be less likely to be the victim of a mis-copied or sloppy paperwork. "ZOOMING" for example is less likely to be misspelled than "5CVX042".
