True if you're defining the category 'sports coupes' like CLK or much bigger CL, the 650i, etc. I don't really consider those as sports cars in the traditional way though.

Yes, but I don't consider the SL500 a sports car either - more a powerful 'touring' type coupe, BUT at least the SL500 has some aspects that explain the weight like its best in class active suspension.

1- There is a gas only model
2- There isn't significant weight gain over the gas model
3- There is something other than a CVT available
4- There is a marked improvement in performance (power wise)
5- Are as reliable as a standard model

I like new ideas, and the concept of electric boost + gas power for some strange reason has really caught my attention. Think of it as a new way of modifying.... some of the motors in Toyota hybrids are capable of 197 hp.... but are tuned to output around 40..... thats like bottle nitrous or a damn efficient supercharger you have locked up there.
A hybrid gas/super-capacitor/Li-battery system ... mmmmmmmmm

Toyota, are you listening?
-lightweight chassis
-manual / DSG transmissions
-rock solid, robust, powerful and potential packed engines
-good looks

Thats the big one for me. Im not at the point of my life where I want an autobox. However, Honda is the only company that made hybrids with MTs. And they don't even do that anymore.

hehe.. well the Prius' battery is 99lbs. That's not too bad. Take a look at a Prius inverter then look at the Camry Hybrid's. They've shrunk that down considerably so there's weight savings there.

Didn't they have issues with MT Insights?

Honda's probably the only one that can do it. That's the benefit of their system.

With the HSD, you can't since you need a PSD to deal with the different power sources.
