Toyota debuts 2008 Sequoia @ LA
#46
I think it looks decent. Pretty amazing that despite the weight gain and the big power increase from the 5.7L this new Sequoia still manages to get better fuel economy than the old model when equipped with the 5.7L. It definitely shows how much better the 5.7L engine is compared with the 4.7L. It's much more power yet more fuel efficient.
Also haven't seen anyone mention but the frame is not the exact same as the Tundra. The Tundra has that "triple-tech" frame where only the front part of the frame is fully boxed. The Sequoia's entire frame is fully boxed. Then there is also the suspension; double wishbone front and back. That should give it some nice stability and good handling for a large SUV. This also shows Toyota is more clearly differentiating the Land Cruiser, Sequoia and Lexus LX. All three now have different suspension systems for example.
Nice to see class-leading towing on the new Sequoia as well as a pretty tight turning radius.
That third-row seat is also quite nice as it reclines and is available with power folding. Also looks like 2nd and 3rd row sunshades are available.
At first glance doesn't look like anything special, but this new Sequoia has lots of little details that differentiate it from the competition.

While I always reserve final judgment until I see it in person...
It has a truck front end which is not going to appeal to the ladies who will normally drive this baby and the new female appealing (and IMHO ugly) tail of the Highlander. Not sure I fully understand Toyota marketing here.
However the interior finally gets a real third row which is a huge plus.
