Default What kinda of protection do u carry?

I was wondering what kinda of protection do u guys have in your cars? Not the naughty stuff, things like guns or tazors or something. I live in a pretty bad area of dallas and i was thinking i should get a tazor and keep it in the glove compartment(also i wonder why they call it the glove compartment) but also i was thinking of a gun, but i dont think i would ever use it. its just a peace of mind that i have something incase a bad situation comes up.
Like once, some guy walked up to my car and asked for a ride and i was trying to get out and he kept bugging and looked like he was on crack, also i saw him at the car wash and i was washing my RX400h, he came and got in and"pretended" to act like he was helping because he "worked" there.

Nothing wrong with guns if people are responsible, just make sure you do it legally and get training to use it, go to a gun range occasionally to keep yourself sharp, I have carried for years and never had to reach for it once, a lot goes with carrying, on days you don't want the burden leave it at home, good luck.

umm... does a screwdriver count? or a multi-function unit with a small knife, file, scissors, cheese fork, pliers and some other stuff count?

haha. No I don't carry anything.

I leave a 20" breaker bar in my car under the seat. Along with a couple of sockets in the glovebox. And no, I have no idea why it's called a glove...maybe back in the day when cars were first invented, there was a small storage compartment for gloves? lol

Reasoning for breaker bar:
1. Breaker bar is decently heavy and can do severe damage if need be.
2. It's more menacing than a baseball bat because people don't normally expect a metal tool lol.
3. Breaker bar has a good handle so it's easy to keep your grip.
4. Breaker bar is not too big so it's easy to hide away under the seat.
5. Breaker bar is a common tool and will not raise suspicion from the police like a baseball bat.
6. The sockets will be an excuse to give the cops incase they ever give you trouble about the breaker bar. Just say "oh I was working on my friend truck earlier"

Good for you. I don't either.

Only a paranoid person or one with control issues would feel the need to carry a weapon in their car. This is just my personal opinion of course.

Count me as paranoid. I plan to get a gun when I move back to VA.

Come to think of it, I seem to remember some automotive safety program suggesting a mallet so you can break the window glass to get out in an emergency?

Stuff like that is ok. If it's to help in situations that may require a tool of some sort. But to carry a gun in your car for "protection" is simply asking for trouble, IMO.

I have a airbag for protection, and a front bumper for weapon. hahahaha. jk.

In Canada, it's not like the states, it's rare that people carry guns around.

At least nobody I know had a gun ever.

So that's my answer, I don't carry weapons.
