ADVANCE ORDERS SURGE IN JAPAN!

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=123506

TOKYO — Nissan took the pulse of GT-R orders on its home turf and reported "strong demand" on Thursday. Word of the surge comes just six weeks before dealers in the U.S. will be accepting pre-orders for the 2009 Nissan GT-R.

"In less than two months since pre-orders were accepted for the all-new Nissan GT-R in Japan, orders have already reached 2,282, exceeding by a factor of 11 the planned monthly sales total," Nissan said in a statement.

Nissan said pre-orders in Japan for the GT-R show that 60 percent of the buyers are under 50. It said the most popular grade series is the Premium edition, and the most popular color is Pearl White, making up 27 percent of all orders.

The GT-R goes on sale in the U.S. in June, starting at $69,850; it goes on sale in Japan December 6.

Not a bad deal for a halo car. Should definitely help Nissan's image
and increase brand-awareness.

I still think it looks like a baseball hat. Ugly.

Most certainly... But it's nice to have a double-edged sword hookup at Nissan.

And you know... There is just too much breaking/unique info regarding this car to ALL be in one thread.

Pricing isn't bad at all, I can't wait for the tuners to start playing with this setup.

Yeh, If they will sell it without crazy markup, it will a tough choice for me between GTR and LS460, if as rumored to be 20K markup, I might as well get a LS460. I know they are totally different animals, but I got my eyes set on these two.

1,500 per year for a $70,000 car just isn't enough. If they really intend on building only 1,500 per year, there will be some big-time dealer markups for a long time.

Yes, lets keep these GTR threads together instead of all over the place in the car chat. Makes it much easier to locate GTR information for those who are searching for it. Thread titles have been updated accordingly nad posts merged. Thanks.
