That might explain why I keep seeing Yukons, Sequoias and Hummers parked in "Compact Cars Only"

And here I thought I was being naive and that they were trying to make themselves feel better by parking in that spot.

there is no excuse for people parking in two spaces no matter how big the car. lazy people like that should have their licenses shredded and their cars crushed.

LOL, you guys are too much.

Well, I am certainly that azzhole you all love to hate. I almost ALWAYS take up two spots. I typically don't park at an angle like the Accord did, I usually just straddle the two spots...half the car in each spot on each side.

The only difference is I always do it at the back of the lot. I never do it up front. NOW, I will say this....if the parking lot is basically empty, and I know I'm just running in and out (not lingering or shopping) or if I know the lot is empty because the store is about to close...then I don't see the problem doing it near the front of the lot, maybe just not RIGHT in front. I'd do it like the Honda Accord did, off to the side.

Knock on wood, my car's never been keyed, and I've never had nasty notes. No, my car aint all that, but it's MINE...and if I can avoid the door ding, I will. And on windy days, I'm ALWAYS going to take up two spots, sometimes at an angle.....but it'll just be in the rear of the lot. I need the exercise anyway, so the walk does me good.

I used to just take up ONE spot at the back of the lot...parking several spots from everyone, being totally isolated. But sometimes, I'd come out and have not one but TWO people parked right next on each side to me in the adjacent spots....when there were several spots all around me. Couldn't they have parked even one spot away? After that happened a few times, I said enough of that. Now I take up two...and I never have any problems.

Again, I'd never use up-front spots (unless the place is basically empty and the store is closing), but I'm always taking up two.

I just consider all of you "haters"...LOL...just kidding.

No seriously, since I'm in the back of the lot and no one except larger trucks/SUVs/campers are parking back there anyway, I see no harm if I take up even three spots. And sometimes, I DO take three...I won't even straddle two. And I'll pull perpendicularly into the back of the lot and take up 3 spots, cutting across all three yellow parking lines. But who cares? That area of the lot is totally empty for like 20-30 spaces.

Anybody upset with me is just being silly. There's more important things in life to hurt your feelings other than me protecting my car from dings in an area of the lot you weren't going to park in anyway.

Mike, there's nobody even around these cars for several spaces. They are in the BACK OF THE LOT. Damn, man, why the hell do you care HOW they park back there????

Don't worry, next time we meet up, I'll give you plenty of ammo for this thread when we stop and park. LOL

Whats even more irritating is that some of the owners of these cars might even see him taking pictures of their cars.

I could just imagine..."Some guy with a Lexus was totally checking out my Civic. He was taking pictures of it left and right. Probably wishes he had my ride."

The same people who park like that are the same people that think this way.

I for one wouldn't give those people the time of day, let alone take pictures of their cars.

I don't mind people taking up multiple spaces at the back of a parking lot or where no one else is going to park. That's fine. But doing it right in front of an entrance or where it's crowded is just being a jerk. I've seen it a couple times here, both at shopping/strip malls and at casinos. The greatest thing is that usually it's a cheap car like a Corvette. Actually, there's this one yellow Corvette with these terrible gaudy black rims that always takes up two spaces at the Bellagio garage... the same garage I've seen a DB9 parked in a single space.

I'll also go on a rant here, so be forewarned. The bottom line is that parking in public spaces means dings are going to happen. It's a reality of life. If you are that scared of getting your car dinged up in a parking lot then you should not be driving the car to that parking lot. Period. Please note this is coming from someone who has frequently parked a Turbo at his neighborhood Taco Bell during timely snack stops and would never consider failing to park it in a single space and in the space most convenient to the door. IMO, you're not using your car for the purpose you want (or you're simply way out of your league with it) if you care about your car so much that you would occupy multiple spaces with it or park it a quarter mile away because you're scared of it getting dinged.

Because I don't want a ding, and park far away from the store, I'm not using the car for its intended purpose? LMAO So I guess the intended purpose for my car is to park in the nearest possible spot, so by all means I can shorten the distance I have to walk to said location... because worrying about a ding in the parking lot goes against the true intentions of driving the car in the first place? What????

I've heard it all now.

I'll make sure that I park in one space right outside the store next time, so that I can fulfill my car's intended purpose on its next outing.

Well, I park just like that Civic, and I don't think this way. I'm not back there for people to take pictures, I'm back there for ding-avoidance.

But if someone cares so much about my parking that they feel compelled to take a picture and post it on a website to complain, so be it (MIKE! LOL).

Like this guy who took up two spaces when I was shopping at the mall. He should park his vehicle straight and allow others an opportunity to park closer to the mall.

Yes, precisely. A parking lot is a public area where, you know, people park. But you're so afraid of dinging your car that you don't want to park it in a parking lot (where the purpose is for people to park). So by going to a parking lot where other people are parking, you're not exactly using your car for the purpose that you intend, now are you? Not too difficult, I hope?

One of my college classmate's dads had a 360 and he was always scared of dings. You know the type, buffs his car every time it goes out and cries whenever it gets road rash on the front lip. But he didn't take the 360 to parking lots. In fact he never parked it outside of his garage. Ever. It was leave garage, drive the car, return to garage. His son and I tracked the car a few times and it was made very clear that the condition was no stopping on the way to or back from the track. If you care so much about dings like he does, you've established the intended purpose of your car: never to get dinged up. Seems obvious the simple solution is not to use that car for purposes where you'll need to leave it in parking lots. It's really not that hard.
