These days cars have to 'initialize' a lot of stuff at startup and maybe that's it. My car's ABS (pump?) makes a small noise when I pull away after startup every time. I'm just used to it now.

 

I haven't heard it but back in the day, rattle on startup was not a good sign.

 

Lexus had a recall the year it was introduced in the U.S. It was with the LS400 back in 88 or '89.

 

Seems that this has become world news even to those who are not auto enthusiasts. Heck my neighbor who is not even an auto enthusisast (drives a 06 G35x) asked me this morning if my 98 GS400 is being recalled. I told him no of course..

This recall is another black eye for Toyota/Lexus with regards to quality control..

 

When other car manufacturers have recalls left and right, people get used to it.

When toyota/lexus have recalls, it's unheard of b/c it's been engraved that toyota/lexus are dead reliable

Lexus should've did the recalls for tps and ball joints

 

Even though it sucks to see my favorite brand having so many recalls, I'd rather have them own up to their mistakes than hide them like some other shady companies.
