While I like my 335i, it is just too much of a middle ground car for me to see the point in throwing it inside of a 3-car mix.

To me, a 335i is kinda like a middle point between a practical boring car (camry, fusion, etc) and an impractical exciting car (vette, 911, etc)

I think I would take a Z06 Corvette & a Mazda6 station wagon if I can pick only 2 cars, that would be practical enough for me at this point.

I guess you mean spend all 100K on brand new cars:
so mine are:
LS460
Honda fit.

and I keep my current cars.

I'd buy a $98,000 Mercedes SL and two scooters.

this one will do: clicky

This one is overkill...... clicky

Three cars for $100,000? Easy. For me, that's simple and a no-brainer.

First, a Subaru Outback L.L. Bean ($34,000) for bad weather, trips of reasonable length (I generally don't do much in the way of long trips anymore) and small wagon/hauling duties. Reliable, and best AWD in the buisness.

Second, a Honda Civic Hybrid ($26,000) for periods of very expensive gasoline, though, in some ways, small diesels make better sense for high mileage. Still, the VW diesels are not as reliable as the Hybrid Civic, and I never cared for the Prius, even though its quality is excellent....IMO better than any other U.S. market Toyota.

Third, a car for some driving fun, and something reminiscent of my youth in the 60's and 70's........perhaps a Mustang GT (despite its cheap interior), the upcoming Challenger R/T(despite my low opinion of Chrysler quality), or a leftover unsold GTO at the Pontiac shop. (roughly $35,000-$40,000)

Altogether, those three would run around $100,000 total.

GTR = $70k
Yaris = $14k
Ranger = $15k

Look at that...I still have $1k left over for gas on the GTR!

Sure is a looker, but wow look at that price tag.

There's a lot of great leasing options on mbusa.com right now. A CLK for $499/mo for 27mo. If I were to budget 100G on cars-- a headache I'm recently grappling with too-- it would either be 3 cars for me, dad, and wife, or 2 cars- a Porsche 911 Targa and a 4-dr Tacoma.

That's exactly it. You've nailed it 100% dude.

It could be a nice car. But I've seen plenty of girls haul it.

It could be a nice new car, but I think an used m3 says more. It comes down to a personal choice at the end of the day, and I just couldn't vouch for 335.

Even my wife went for SLK over 335: it's got a distinctive nose and minimal functionality-- a subtle luxury that many couldn't afford. Additionally, SLK's body shape has much more characterthan the sedan 335. I know if I were to stand to a car next to it for a picture, it would be SLK over 335.

Audi S5 $55k - Incredibly good looking, sporty, wont be that common
Lexus GX470 $45K - Room, haul a few things around, can go offroading

....that is if I can keep my Maxima.

But if it has to be 3 brand new cars then....

Lexus IS350 40K - I just love it. Enough said.
Toyota Highlander Hybrid 35K - Have to be a little concerned about gas while still having plenty of room.
VW GTI or Mazdaspeed3 25K (but would greatly prefer the Audi A3 or Honda S2K for 5-10k more putting me over budget)- I had 25K leftover so I had to pick a car that would deliver the most fun.

-2008 GS460 - $59k - Need something comfortable & with decent power
-2008 Tundra Crewmax 4x4 - $35k - I just gotta have a truck around

That's $94k. To fit under the criteria, I guess that's it.

But if we can have 1 used car, I'd get a Camry from the 90's (4cyl). Won't break down, pretty good gas mileage.

Oh wait, isn't this very similar to my current stable already?
