Just wondering, how are the prices in the States and in other countries.
I live in Belgium and picked unleaded 95 octane which costs:
8,16 USD FOR 1 GALLON

$3.67/gal for 91 octane Shell where I filled up the other day in Milpitas, CA (NorCal).
Costs of gasoline are usually higher in Europe than in the US because the gasoline is of higher quality and purity. Note that the lowest octane over there is 95 and the lowest here is 87. Because of this, cars over there get better performance and slightly better gas mileage.

The differance in price is mostly due to extremely high gas taxes in Europe as well as a few other factors, not quality.

So, a question for those living in Europe. How much do you guys drive with prices around $8-$9 a gal.? I wouldn't be able to afford more than 100 miles a week! Many Americans drive 100 miles every day.
I can't imagine you guys can drive much.

$1.13/litre on the west coast up here in Canada.
Note that most of the cost of fuel goes to the gov't in taxes.
I was watching Top Gear. It reached 1£/litre there. However, half of it is in taxes (don't remember the exact percentage but it's in the News section of one of recent Top Gear Shows). Which leaves the rest is actual fuel cost. Convert it to CAD or USD and it's almost the same as what we pay (including our taxes). So their actual fuel cost isn't that much higher than ours. It's just that the taxes pile on and double the actual money paid for a litre of fuel.
