Default Heavy Hitters Magazine

This could be a repost.

Just picked up a new mag called HH - Heavy Hitters.
In it is a feature on this car:

Even better, the article gives mad props to all 3 generations of the GS and it's impact on the enthusiast scene.
One thing I question, the article gives credit to Jay-Z for making the GS popular because it was in one his video's or concerts or something.
I never knew the guy did that but don't these people know that these guys don't own most of the cars in the videos? Not that they couldn't but most wouldn't use their own cars.

Anyway, it was nice to see a Lexus and a GS in particular get props in another mag. Especially a GFM GS!

Oh, in case anyone is wondering why this post was not done in the GS section, it's because I wanted everyone to know about the new mag.

I've read that rap stars occasionally feature their own personal cars in music videos.

Yes, occasionally.
Certainly, those guys sporting the 350K RR probably don't own those. Unless it's someone like Puff Daddy.

It's good to know the GS has been held in such high regard. I do agree a star can elevate a brand by association.

I'm pretty sure Jay Z did own the GS he used in the video. I remember reading something about him being the first one in his neighborhood to buy the 1st gen GS and how he put it in his video too. He actually had a concert some time in 2006 I think and he brought the 1st gen GS on stage! Even though the car was 2 generations old by that point, he still brought it out to represent his past or something, I can't remember the exact details but it was pretty cool

Default HEAVY HITTERS MAGAZINE: Anyone seen it yet?

Has anyone checked out this magazine yet. It's pretty damn good and definitely something different.

Obviously I got the mag. I like it because it features customs and high end cars.......heavy hitters.....per the mag title. It also talks a little about the owners and I enjoy reading about people who are doing it big. I would like to see a little more performance info and more pics but I guess it will get better. This was just the first issue. At this point, just the first issue but I've already placed it as my 3rd fave....behind Modified Luxury & Exotics and Makes & Models.

Default Traction Mag

Well, the GS pictured above is making the rounds. Another new mag has emerged and the car is in that one, too. It has different wheels, some 20 in black faced 1 piece Giovanna's. The wheels don't look bad but the Collectizone emblem is still on the back. Plus, there's a VIP emblem but the choice of Giovanna's don't feel so VIP to me. I know VIP is a style/look but imo only certain wheels work with that style.

This mag also focuses on higher end cars and lifestyle. Other cars featured are an IS350, an E92, and a G35. All nicely and moderately modded.

Sounds like a pretty cool mag.
I'll look for it next time I am at the American book centre.

I don't know if I would give Jay-Z credit for making the GS popular, but yeah, I find it interesting he featured a 14GS in few of his videos.

So, JZ has been featuring the car......without rims???
Looks like JZ has been around a long time. The 1GS was around in the early 90's so this guy has longevity. He must be good.

His first album, Reasonable Doubt, was in '96. While it wasn't as instant legend as say, Nas' Illmatic, it is still considered one of the greatest rap albums in history. And the guy is worth more than half a bil.

Jay-Z had loot before rap....his early vids featured Lexus ES/SC/GS....mind you back, in the early 90s, that was a huge deal....He even had vids in the carribean on boats, way before anyone else.....

Pete Rock and CL Smooth had a SC and LS in the vid "Straighten it out"...
