Default Another 4 door coupe (VW Passat Coupe)

VW Passat 4-Door Coupe Spied In Clear View

Rumors have been flying for some time that Volkswagen would create a stylish 4-door “coupe” version of their Passat similar to the Mercedes CLS. Now uncovered in the U.S. southwest is a never seen before VW prototype which closely matches the description.

Judging by the polished and near production look of this prototype as well as lack of camouflage, masters of disguise, VW, seem to have managed to keep this prototype away from prying eyes during the early stages of its development. Usually, it is not until the end of a prototype's development that most of the full body camouflage is shed except for front and rear end coverings. Could we possibly have a Frankfurt surprise on our hands?

Posted over a year and a half ago, we stumbled across some renderings with an overall body shape which is strikingly similar to these spy photos. See for yourself: forums.nasioc.com

Default Spied: Volkswagen 4-door Coupe

After months — if not years — of rumors, Volkswagen has finally begun testing a "four-door coupe" version of its Passat sedan. Arguably inspired by the much more expensive Mercedes CLS, the Passat coupe was photographed by our spies in the southwest United States.

Recent rumors have suggest the car will arrive at the Detroit auto show in January. Slated to cost around 30,000 euros, the high-end Volkswagen will steer clear of Audi's 44,000 euro A5.

Engine output is expected to start at 160 horsepower via a 1.8 liter TSI. A 2.0 liter turbo diesel will also be offered, with 140 horsepower and a slightly higher price tag. Lastly, a range-topping FSI V6 with 300 horsepower, all-wheel-drive and a dual-clutch transmission will come in at 40,000 euros.

Special order features will include a glass roof, reverse camera, and proximity sensors for parking.

Wow, I didn't know that when VW decided to copy the CLS and make a four door coupe, they decided to copy EVERYTHING and just slap on a Volkswagen grille.

That is a SEDAN. 4 door coupe is a ridiculous moniker.

Now I don't know if Audi is being funny but that front end masking is clearly GS influenced and it has a half way Toyota emblem....

Seems the suits have humor!

Is that really necessary?

It's nice to have options for the Passat bodystyle, but if it's only a design element for the added price, people may not pay for such extravagance. It just isn't functional.

Unless if the styling difference is as dramatic as the E-Class and CLS-Class, I don't think this will fly...
