Porsche Cayenne Accident: How The Heck Did This Happen ?

Our friend Daniel from the Spanish car blog Motorpasion posted this picture of a Porsche Cayenne that looks like it got its wheels (and plenty of other mechanical elements) shaved off after a close encounter with the chain between the two poles. There are no details to as how or where the accident happened but we’ve never seen something like this before.

Hmm... Gemballa Tuned also. OUCH!

I'm thinking there is a curb that we aren't seeing in that pic that might be the culprit. That, or some sort of barrier... I'm not too sure that chain would be able to to that much damage to those wheels.

Had to have been going extremely fast for a chain to have done that.

I'd say he hit something before hitting the chain. There are no remnants of anything around except what's still attached to the car (what's left of it).

I would agree, except there is no evidence in the picture that the car hit anything at all. Seems like it may have been placed there by a crane. If it was going fast, wouldn't we see some damage to either the curb directly behind it or to the front where the car would have had to bounce off the wall to come to a complete stop. Doesnt seem likely that the car would have had enough force to climb a 3 inch curb and come to a stop 3 inches after clearing it.

Its like a sword cut through the tires and wheels as they were still spinning. That Cayenne is AWD so not sure how they could lost control unless they were just flying....

I'll check out the P forums and see if anyone knows....wow!

Defective or improperly cast alloy wheels? It's rare, but does happen.

Most likely, the two wheels on that side hit a solid, curb-like barrier while still spinning and the spokes simply gave way.

Its simple.

The diver was going extremely fast and ran over some huge curb that made the wheels tare off like that.

Agreed. Usually with an accident like that, it is speed or alcohol.

if it was high speed and hit a curb why is his front suspension intact (looks like it), and hitting a curb on the passenger side vehicle wouldve rolled it easily. Its obvious the vehicle didnt roll
