Photo Renderings: 2010 VW Beetle Sedan, Cabrio and Roadster
December 18th, 2007
Well it has been confirmed many times by Volkswagen that the new Volkswagen Scirocco won’t make it to the stateside. Worry not - Volkswagen has something else in store for us that will fill the spot of the Scirocco. The reinvented Beetle, which hit US markets in 1998, is in need of a major redesign after sales remain to be sluggish. Now the redesign Volkswagen Beetle is on schedule to debut in 2010.
The 2010 Volkswagen Beetle will try and ditch the whole Herbie ‘aww that’s so cute’ look and will be offered in three different variants including a sedan, convertible and a roadster/speedster. The car will be designed in California and will be engineered in Germany where it will be built on the same platform as the Volkswagen Rabbit and the upcoming Volkswagen Scirocco.
Volkswagen has reportedly ordered its designers to draw up a more modern and aggressive look for the next Beetle, making it bigger than the current model. According to these latest renderings, design for the next Beetle is also expected to be influenced by the recent Volkswagen Up! concept; especially in the front and rear bumpers.
Now we’re not sure whether all variants will make it to the stateside but cross your fingers. Keep a look out for the next Volkswagen Beetle in late 2009 as a 2010 model year.

Cool. Maybe that piece will be cheaper to replace than the entire bumper. Kudos to VW for being able to make the VW Beetle look cuter. Although the front does look a bit Peugeot-esque.
