You buy that car for the motor only... looks funky imo. 335i FTW

shouldve been 300-400 lbs lighter than the 335, not 150. Weight difference, price proximity to 335, and looks (a joke when hyundai designs a far better looking coupe thats priced ~25k) are disappointing. I dont see this thing performing significantly better than any 335 because of the weak weight difference. Thats why I'd rather buy a 335, save me the trouble of breaking the news to people that I paid 35k to be caught dead in this thing

Looks like there will be more of these on the road than the 335i, the fanbase seems to be growing daily. I personally like it but it's too close to the cost of the 335i.

It's $5k less, that's a lot of money.

I'm going to have to change my mind a little on the price being too close to the 335i that I posted earlier above. I priced out a 135i optioned out how I might get one and it came out to around $38K. I did the same with a 335i Sedan and it came out to $48K. A $10K difference is significant. I actually thought it would have been closer to around $5K difference, but it is a lot more than that. The 335i comes standard with some options that are add on options on the 135i, so the options packages actually come out more than the 335i. Now, if you compare base prices it is a lot closer, but nobody buys a base model anymore.

my first impressions are that the 135 feels like a very hot hot hatch, not a coupe.
the reason i dumped my 335i was because it felt so big on the road and you never really wanted to throw it around through the corners. it was a high speed cruiser and massively uninvolving
before that i had an R32 Golf which I loved to bits and this is much closer to the R32 than it is to a 3
can't get the seat adjusted for height very well though yet. it'll come though
seats in the back are great but your passengers will have to leave their legs at home.
brakes are amazing, but harsh.
Anybody else get a feeling that taking advice from this guy would be a big mistake?

Seriously.

He basically says it's great but not great. I like this one, "Seats in the back are great but your passengers will have to leave their legs at home". So are they a great brief case holder?

go drive one.
I drove a 5 door 130i M-Sport in Japan and it handled really nice.
too bad they didn't bring over the 5 door b/c I like the design of it and seems better for family use and whatnot.

Maybe its based on ZIp Code? I've seen up over 44k for a 135..

For decades the knock on BMW cars was that they were "overpriced and underpowered". Now they are just overpriced.

Why in the world would anybody buy one of these things when for a similar price they could have a new IS350 or CTS? I guess it's like my old friend Cicero used to say "de gustibus non est disputandum".

a non turbo 130i costs from around 50k in Japan. I wouldn't be surprised if it is that expensive.

The last time BMW tried a sub-compct it didn't work, at least not in the US. Americans are sort of elitist. I don't think many people will want the car. I would rather get a Civic for a sub-compact. Mercedes has one and I don't see many of those around.

That car could easily have this on it and I'd be none the wiser.

I didn't check every option, but only the ones I personally would get. For example, I didn't click navigation since we are in Hawaii and my friend's who own stereo/car shops can come up with something better. I also didn't check radar cruise control, parking assist and some of the optional BMW wheels which are really expensive compared to aftermarket. Anyway, I did the same for the 335i and left off the same things. The 335i comes standard with the Logic 7, but on the 1 series you have to add the higher premium audio system as an option, so that adds more to the options list price.
