Honda Motor Co. is recalling 43,200 Acura RL sedans to fix a power steering hose that may crack and leak fluid onto a hot catalytic converter, leading to a fire, Bloomberg News reported today.
The recall by Tokyo-based Honda affects 2005-2008 model sedans, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which posted the information on its Web site.

Still doesn't change my opinion of this superb car. I liked it before....I like it now.
But, of course, that doesn't change the fact that this is a potentially serious matter.....power steering fluid and hot converters don't mix very well.
And if Honda has recalled over 43,000 of them, the car has sold better then we thought.
I see a fair number of them in my area now.....they used to be quite uncommon.

In any case, I think it's a good car and am sorry to see it's not doing that well. I have a neighbor who has a white RL, and they love it.

That does seem like a lot of cars. Thru Nov Acura has sold 5,696 RL's vs. 10,799 last year (-47.6%). They probably sold better right after the launch of the current gen, and have been tailing off since. 392 sold in Nov '07!

I wonder if its worldwide, which would include Honda Legends....

Not exactly. It could potentially catch on fire, but we haven't heard of any reports yet. Thats why there are recalls to prevent these things from happening.![Sad](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/sad.gif)
Lexus is on the same ship. They're recalling quite a few GS and IS in the states due to a faulty fuel pipe that could lead to a fuel leak.

The RL's do feel even more expensive than they are. I too don't know why they haven't sold better.
It compares in price to a BMW 5-series but feels waaaay more expensive - like $20K nicer.

I personally don't think so. I drove a RL and it doesn't feel more expensive than a 5 series nor a GS. I thought it was too small for the price actually and the rear end is a bit weird. Though, the interior is laid out well.
