Default If you trade-in your car for something of equal value, what would you get?

HYPOTHETICAL SCENARIO:

You are about to trade-in your primary car, valued at Kelley Blue Book Trade-In value.

What would you get?

A used car? (Use KBB Private Party value)
Or a new car? (Use middle of invoice and retail price)

Let's see:

The current trade-in value of my '06 IS350 is about $29k.

If I had to trade it in for something, I would go for a new, fully-loaded Camry Hybrid. Just something completely different; a little less sport, a bit more room and comfort, and the gas savings would be nice.

KBB trade-in for my 98GS300 (without including mods) is 8,625.

I would muster together a couple grand more and buy a used SRT-4. I had a neon R/T before this car and I loved it. Get one with a Stage 3 kit, stock exhaust with a cutout and have some fun. I love those stupid little cars, hahaha.

I would trade my IS250 in for a new Civic Coupe EX. I absolutely love the new Civic. Its just so well designed and practical. The exterior has a timeless design and the interior is very futuristic.

Man, both my cars are only worth about $15K or so. The 99 LS and 02 330i. Can't really buy anything in that range to make it worth the trade. However, if I traded both cars in and came up with a little bit more cash I'd get a 08 G35.

GX = $36,105 Trade-in / $41K PP

Tough choice here...maybe buy an STi and pocket the difference until something compelling comes around or a hybrid...something to help me save extra till the next great car comes along.

There's nothing I'd put my LS430 towards as, at the KBB value, it simply can't be beat. There's nothing worth trading it towards.

I pulled the trigger and actually did it. My '02 GS430 + a '98 I30 for my loaded up '07 GTI.

I would get a 2008 Subaru STI Hatch.

Well I will most likely get it in 2009.

Forgive me for being off topic, but I'm surprised there is so much support for the new STI! In my mind, I figured the awkward styling and lack of DSG would keep many potential buyers flocking to the EVO X's lot. Good to know that people still like the raw feel of a STI and its 6 speed trad. manual.
