Motor Trend, okay I guess we have leeway here

I am angry because Top Gear just wrapped up the season.
people have to drive all sorts of cars, not just sports cars, so maybe they want to know how these kinds of cars stack up? Otherwise, CD wouldnt have much to write about really...

Last time I checked a 4 cylinder cute ute was still classified as an "auto". So you're saying that Car & Driver, Road & Track, and Motor Trend should only test Ferrari's, Lambos, Porsche's, and Aston Martins?

One reason I just love Sports Car International (and I cannot recommend this mag enough) is they do not test any SUVs or Trucks or anything not sporty. I am surprised every time they review a Lexus, lol.

Actually, small, car-based SUV's are EPA/DOT-classified as trucks for emission and safety requirements. Even my Outback, which is nothing but a regular Subaru Legacy (a car) with a different suspension, is legally classified as a truck. Fortunately, it does not drive like one.

Thanks, so true. That's why I was careful to say "auto" and not "car"

And Lexus's and cars that are actually cool and someone passionate...

Lots of people can write (like me)

but few people can actually do it properly (nabokov, dickens, etc)

As much as I love reading about the new Aston Martin, I'll never own, one, drive one, and probably no one will ever let me even sit in one. So I, and many others, appreciate the fact that "enthusiast" magazines also include articles about cars that I may own some day.

Isn't that why there is "sport compact car" and what not?

I mean, Miata would be awesome, but RAV 4. There is no "driver" from "car and driver" when you drive one of those...

Well, I subscribe to Car and Driver. I own a car, and I drive it. Same goes for someone who owns an Audi S8, or Lotus, or a Prius or a CR-V, etc.

Road and Track--I'm sure many RAV4 owners drive on the "road".

No one's forcing you to read those magazines, or this thread, that clearly says "C&D" and "RAV4" in the title.

I know no one is forcing me, I'm just expressing an opinion, not saying "hey here's a problem, fix it"

Just compare the Top Gear Polar Special to all of the Motortrend shows on whatever channel they are shown on...
