As for ride, drive, solidity, and build quality, I would hope that BMW's is unmatched, considering that it starts at $38,000 and quickly balloons from that point up. Where a fully equipped EX is right around $43,000. And the EX shares the engine that has been on Ward's 10 best list for the past 13 years.
Sorry, I'll take an Infiniti or Lexus any day of the week over a BMW.

If you need a laugh!
I took this from the Owners manual word for word.
NO Towing with the EX!
Your vehicle was designed to be used to carry
passengers and cargo. INFINITI does not recommend
trailer towing, because it places additional
loads on your vehicle's engine, drivetrain,
steering, braking, and other systems.

I can't believe you are defending a SUV that can't tow.

But it's not an SUV, it's a crossover. As someone else stated, this is the station wagon for this decade.
1SickLex, you're entitled to your (strong) opinions, but just because you don't "get" the cute-ute segment doesn't mean they are worthless or don't meet others' needs.

Small, car-based SUV's do in fact meet many automotive needs. They offer all-weather security, better gas mileage and better road manners than truck-based ones, but at the cost of off-road and towing capability, which most people don't need anyway. The Subaru Outback, at the cost of some cargo room, does it even better...it is the most carlike of all.
