Not likely.

In your original post you mentioned that the parking spot was free so obviously that was more of a concern to you than paying for parking for your 3 month old DREAM car in Manhattan. Not saying that it was right for your car to get scratched but lets be serious, this is NY, YOU KNOW BETTER and you got what you should have expected (notice, I did not say deserved). You said you had your boys with you so there was your $20 for parking right there.

i know what you're saying. please read the responds to MrG4Life. i also know parking in NYC could be troublesome at times. It's one thing to try and fit into a spot but this bumb has no intention to avoid scratching me.. Tell me when the last time you trying to park into a tight space. Then had to get out of the car to check the amount of space you have in order to not damage your nor the other person's car..

it's not about the 20 dollar. The point is, there were other space on the same block. This fool just decided not to go further down more. He basically had the 4x4 go until he hits me to know there won't be any more room to move.. a person like that DESERVES what he gets..

Seriously, what do you expect on the streets of NYC? Put it in a garage--at least if they f--- up your car, you know who did it, and where to find them.

If anyone is going to key someone else's car, for WHATEVER REASON, they are no better than that 4x4 guy, and deserve it back equally.

Lucky for the scum i didn't have a knives or any blade in my car, else he would of lost a few tires.....

Any advise on how to handle this type of stuff in the future and god i hope there won't be any.
You are just rationalizing to make yourself feel better. Maybe EVERYONE should just exact their own revenge each time they feel they have been wronged. How to handle next time? Walk away, and enroll in anger management.

so over a two inch scratch....you keyed someone else's car?

on the hood?

seriously?

sounds like you did more damage to his car than he did to yours.

so much for "getting what he deserves" if you do more harm than he did...

if everybody just walk away, then the guy would never change.

one time in NYC, i was sitting in my car (street parking) and the SUV in front of me is backing up to leave, he simply backs into my bumper. It was nothing too serious but i actually spent 5 minutes scolding him while getting his insurance information. Of course i didn't do anything with his insurance but hopefully he can remember to be careful next time.

Can't condone the keying, but I would have pursued the insurance angle. I was sitting in my previous car on the phone one time in a parking lot and woman pulls in across from me and smacks into my front bumper. Proceeds to get out like nothing happened and walks away. I chased her down, showed her the damage done, and got her insurance information so that I could file a claim -- which I did. The woman remained indignant throughout the entire ordeal. It was "only" about $200 worth of damage, but it was the principle of the matter.
