In the U.S., the seven-passenger Borrego will be equipped with either a 3.8-liter V6 or a 4.6-liter V8, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
SEOUL, S. Korea — The all-new 2009 Kia Borrego has officially broken cover in its home market of Korea, where the full-size utility vehicle will be sold as the Kia Mohave.
The U.S.-spec Borrego will debut in two weeks at the Detroit auto show.
At the vehicle's formal unveiling here on Thursday, Kia executives said they expect to sell 48,000 of the new models worldwide in 2008, primarily in North America and China, with global sales growing to 80,000 units in 2009. The U.S. edition will go on sale later this year as a 2009 model.
The Korean price of the base Mohave with 3.0-liter V6 diesel is $34,000. In U.S. trim, the seven-passenger, body-on-frame Borrego will come equipped with either a 3.8-liter V6 or a 4.6-liter V8, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Looks to me like more or less a rebadged Hyundai Veracruz, with different trim and a slightly different body shape. They both seem to be done on the same platform, which, of course, is not surprising, although I don't think Hyundai offers the 4.6L V8 yet.

It's a completely different body-on-frame platform. The Diesel model will be available a year later and is supposed to get 20/30 MPG.

The general body styling looks to me like both the Veracruz and the Borrego came from the same platform........but the fact that the Kia offers a 4.6L V8 and Hyundai doesn't is one clue to what you are saying...different platforms. If the platforms were the same, the engine options would likely be also.
Welcome to CL, BTW. I see you are a relative newcomer with just 40 posts......and your last post was a good one
