I could care less if its identical to a lexus interior down to the mm measurements. Personally I think hyundai developed a rep for ripping designs and people are grasping at any similarities, real or imagined.
Agreed... bottom line to me, is it a good car? We'll see. Sure looks good.

There sure is a lot of interest, both pro & con. I don't know if it's my cup of tea, but I'll certainly take a look at it.

I'm curious to see what the actual prices will be. Hyundai's prices have crept up recently. A fully loaded V6 Veracruz is pushing $40K.

Any ideas on pricing?

IMO, in order for the car to have a chance, MSRP for a Genesis 3.8L w/ Nav and HID cannot exceed $37,000. I say this because the M35 w/ Nav (the cheapest of the imports in its class) is $47,000 MSRP, and the Genesis needs to have at least a $10,000 advantage.

The Genesis website estimates most configurations will fall around the $30K mark, so I can't believe the nav and HIDs will cost $7K. My guess is if they are correct a loaded Genesis should fall under $35k easily.

I think when they say "under 30k", they are talking about the 3.3L model. I think it'll be about a $2000 to $3000 extra for the 3.8L (and a few other things).

Look for two bold Hyundai Genesis commercials during the Superbowl! This will be the 1st time the general public sees the Genesis.

Or check them out on...

The intoduction vids are cool too.

Gotta say.... Not bad at all!
Saw it during the Super Bowl. I was rather impressed.

I cant even hate on it. Im very impressed. Interior could be a little better though. I'd still get this over ANY Acura or Infiniti. No joke.

They are killing themselves with these commercials. They will never be associated with prestige.

the interior is twice as nice as the plasticy $50K+ 5-series interior.

This will finally open the minds up of many Hyundai haters.

Wow, Hyundai has a V-8, Acura doesn't. Ouch.

Default GS versus Hyundai Genesis

The new 2009 Hyundai Genesis that was advertised on tonight's Superbowl program is VERY interesting, especially the 368hp V8. If Lexus and BMW aren't careful, they may get some worthy competition. This is a nice car (see link below).

I see we still have our doubters.

Up through the '80s, people would say that NO Asian company could enter the prestige market...

...oh that pesky Lexus company.

And BTW, the Genesis is much more powerful than any of your Lexus vehicles and has more features than them too. Still no respect?

Car looked really good in the commercials and that 375hp is impressive too. Hyundai has come a long way.

Im sorry but Lexus had a completely different strategy, that is to be ahead of competition, instead of this "space of a 7 series, price of a 3 series". That is just an underdog attitude that commands no respect.

No. I'd rather drive a 1970 civic with 500,000 miles on the clock than a top of the line Genesis. In fact, I wouldn't even take a crap into the Genesis, never mind driving one. I have zero respect for them as a company, and I would be embarrased to be associated with them in any way.
