... and by passing on the right is very dangerous and against the law. Again, the enforcement thing is an issue.

The other thing is that Henry drives like he's on the unrestricted part of the autobahn

See that makes sense. However, our lawmakers rarely practice that.
Also, the cities and governments want ticket revenue.

Cars are faster and safer, roads are arguably better but speed limits are the same.

We should have TWO fast lanes and the other lanes for everyone else.

i don't agree. general public don't necessarily have the ability to decide their limits

Didn't think either you OR Dan could drive like that in SoCal's gridlock. It's even worse than ours in the DC area.

If the speed limit is adjusted, however, what is to stop people from going even faster?

The people who speeds excessively will do that no matter what. Most people are comfortable speeding 5-15mph over the limit. If it is at 65 now and most people drive 70-85, if the limit goes to 80, people will potentially be going 85-100. That is getting pretty fast for everyday driving. When will it end?

Well part of it is what I was saying. Cars are more capable. Look at basic Accord and Camrys today compared to the 70s or 80s.

Going 80mph is pretty easy in most new cars. I agree people will go faster but that will always be an issue.

I know. I'm just having a little humor with you. Same in this area......part-time gridlock, part time motion.

It doesn't take 380 horses to get in trouble, though. The record-holder that I personally know for speeding tickets got them in......guess what? An 1985 vintage, 70 HP Tercel. He just kept getting them and getting them. He had a Canadian license, so they couldn't suspend or revoke it. At 200,000 miles, the car was a rolling piece of junk, too....I got to the point where I was afraid to ride with him. I finally talked him into replacing it....he now has a newer Tercel and a Hyundai.

It is not too bad in general. There are a number of drivers out there, however, who should not be driving. PERIOD. I would hate to condone that these drivers are allowed to legally go even faster.

If it's 55 or 65mph, speeders are doing 10+ over that because in most places around the country it's become "acceptable" to do so. Countless times I've passed troopers sitting on the middle or side of a highway doing 70 or so in a 65mph speed limit zone. It's like if your doing 80+, then their more prone to pull you over. If speed limits begin to increase, I don't know if it'll become "acceptable" to be doing 90 or so. I don't really care if speed limits are increased because I'm already doing the "new posted" speed anyway.

human desires are unlimted and often selfish.
what's good for an individual may not be good if it is applied to the whole community. Tax is an example, nobody want to pay any taxes, but imagine what would happen to the country without taxes?

Its even more annoying when people drive under the speed limit in the HOV lane and there is no way around them, and you have to risk getting a ticket for changing lanes over the double solid lines to pass them on the right.
