BMW custom ordering system is very easy and flexible. It's brilliant system. On the other hand, Lexus builds car with the options no one really wants, and forced them to take it.

Let's see, the price difference between IS-F and IS350 is $56,000-$36,005=$19,995. The price difference between M3 sedan and 335i sedan is $54,575-$38,900=$15,675. If we simply look at the price without paying attention to what options they carry as standard, then I say the bimmer is a better deal. I have seen the real IS-F at Los Angeles auto show, I don't like it. It looks like a IS with some exaggerating aftermarket bodykits and the bulge on the bonnet is not natural looking, as if Lexus put something that is not supposed to be in this car but force it in. I still think IS350 and IS250 is a better looking car. On the other hand, M3 sedan's front end is from the coupe's, and I think it looks way better than the regular 3-series sedan's, so a good thumb up. Between these two, I would take the M3 sedan.

Well if you read the history background on the IS-F it states that they were not planning to make this vehicle, it was an 'outside' job not part of traditional channels, which makes sense that the bulge and other things are heavy modifications. Yes indeed, this car has more of the beast in it than the beauty.
I think it depends on what they are offering for the money and comparing the price difference between top and bottom will usually yield differences between makes. Just like Mercedes runs the gamut from the AMG models down to the regular ones, which is an even higher range at times. Even more than $/hp it's about overall value IMO, the features, options, and how it's sold/demand etc.

yup nickel and dimed to hell and back. Is that a confirmed list or a theoretical list? I see its coming from the m3 forum
there are some copy paste errors in that list in the Leather + DCT and Leather + 19" + DCT, in one of the columns he has leather as $775 and in the next column $1450, also he has 19" as $1450 (which is the leather price) when its $1400 in other columns

Excellent post Some forget that the IS-f was not developed from the ground up like the M3. The IS chassis was not designed with a V8 in mind. Lexus just stretched the nose and added stiffer spring rates to accomodate the tuned LS460 V8.. I rather a super saloon that was engineered from the ground up. How about you?
It is not some hack job someone did at some obsecure little shop somewhere.
The way it was done - spare time of top toyota engineers, actually gives some emotional side to the vehicle that previous Lexus cars did not have.
And its still 10k less than BMW, apperantly :P

This is how most M3 are probably going to be equipped. BMW pricing can get scary with the options.

On the second thought, screw both IS-F and M3. GTR is the way to go
