Acura boasts 2010 NSX will be faster than Nissan GT-R (Page 12)

I agree. Acura is stupid. That is why the original lead engineer of the NSX resigned. Acura wouldn't have to compete with the GTR and LFA designs if they stuck to what they did best. Mid engine. All the NSX fans wanted mid engine, everyone wants mid engine, but Acura wants to go GT and put a V10 up front
Nobody wants to see a front engine NSX. Hopefully they call this car something else, because it definitely is NOT an NSX. The NSX stands for New Sportscar eXperimental. There is nothing new or experimental about a front engine V10 GT car. Nothing. It has been done time and time again. Instead of being a leader Acura is now just a follower, and not they have to complete with everyone and their mama instead of having their nitch. There would have been only 2 competing cars in the area. The Audi R8 and Porsche Cayman.

Honda just build the HSC already, everyone drooled over that one, all the recent concepts are failure.
Seriously if they aren't going to make it mid-engine, forget it, the LF-A and GTR will be enough Japaneese supercars out there.

Spy Shots
SpyShots: 2011 Acura NSX
Honda’s NSX replacement has had several false starts, with the company scrapping one of its original designs – the Acura Advanced Sports Car Concept - after the public’s largely negative response to the 2007 Detroit show car. Designers were sent back to the drawing board and Honda was forced to abandon its original plans to show the car at the following Tokyo Motor Show.
Despite the drawbacks, engineers were able to continue testing the new mechanicals for the car by using a modified S2000 body and we saw the first test-mules running laps at the Nurburgring by the middle of last year. The latest round of spy shots suggest Honda has come up with a final design for the car, as seen by this latest prototype once again spotted at the Nurburgring in Germany.
Speaking with MotorAuthority back in April, Acura spokesman Mike Spencer confirmed several details of the upcoming NSX replacement. The car will definitely be powered by a V10 engine, and it will be equipped with the company’s SH-AWD system. The lack of intakes at the rear of the car also confirms the NSX replacement will feature a front-engine configuration, as opposed to the mid-engine layout of the former.
There has been some discussion of a possible four-wheel steering system (4WS) for the NSX replacement, but Spencer suggested the SH-AWD system would achieve most of the benefits of 4WS without the added complexity.

The NSX replacement is now expected to arrive sometime in 2010 as a 2011 model with final pricing expected to be revealed closer to the car’s release date.

Agree. Since this car is not mid-engine, I wish honda would give this NSX "replacement" a new name instead of NSX, and let the "old" NSX rest in peace.

The more I look at it, the more its going to be a GT coupe. It doesn't resemble anything exotic like the original NSX. The original NSX was sleek, low to the ground, and had that 'exotic' body. This car resembes the LF-A more than anything else.

I don't doubt at all the car will have some pretty amazing performance characteristics, but that new design does absolutely no justice to the old one.
Does anyone know why they ditched mid-rear setup? The worlds best sports cars are, for the most part, mid engine. Even Porsche who's had great success with the unconventional rear-engine lay-out went mid-engine for its flag-ship sports car.
