Subaru has announced that it will allow owners to experience the beauty of all wheel drive while minimizing their environmental footprint this spring. The Japanese automaker will add Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV) designated Outback and Legacy models to their lineup this spring. The pair were first unveiled at the Montreal Auto Show.

Let's hope Subaru can do this without making them too sluggish. The non-turbo, automatic, 2.5L Legacys and Outbacks are not exactly Friday Night drag-racers...the manual versions a little quicker but not exactly snappy. Some of the newer ones have the S-Drive feature which tailors the engine response through the engine computer.

These have been in the States for a little while now. Same performance, cost is $200 extra and Subaru eats the other $800.

Yeah we haven't gotten any PZEV cars up here. Only AT-PZEV (HCH-II and Prius II)
