Default Lexus to abandon L-Finesse design?

I'm quite skeptical, but here's the Autocar via Winding Road story:

Report: Lexus to Jettison L-Finesse Design Language
Written By: Phil Floraday

According to a print-only report in the January 18 issue of Autocar, Lexus has gotten the desired results from its L-Finesse design language and will now move on to a new theme. The L-Finesse design language has appeared on concept cars like the LF-A and LF-A Roadster and on production cars like the LS, GS, and IS. L-Finesse was created by Leonardo Fioravanti.

The top dogs at Lexus are looking for a new design language to replace L-Finesse. We’re hoping the new language provides enthusiasts with an emotion reaction outside of the current yawn. What direction should Lexus take?

Yawn? I think the current lineup looks great, minus the ES.

Wouldn't make sense. This would be the first time Lexus would drop something so soon.

I like L-finess mostly...the one exception being the sc430. A little sleeker body and it too would be a star. I think the current designs scream LEXUS and think they should stick with it for several years. It's modern and stylish. It's cool.

I don't care what design language they use, as long as the cars look great.

They should. While I think the current crop of Lexus sedans are mostly handsome & appealing, but they can look a little bland from some angles.
Take a little more chance, but don't be too radical & make them ugly.

Another thing is they should use totally different design themes for Lexus & Toyota models. Make the Lexus models look as different as possible from the Toyota models. i.e, the LS, ES, etc. should not look even remotely similar to a Toyota Camry etc., even from a distance for an average person who don't usually pay much attention to cars.

the sc430 was never subjected to the l-finesse because it was never made over. so far only the gs, is, ls, and es have gotten the treatment. not sure about the lx

I love the current designs of Lexus sedans. They look so elegant, gorgeous and gentle, unlike any other luxury brands. My ES350's look never seems to get old. I can't stop staring at it.

i agree with andrew, current lineup is very elegant, but could use a bit more aggressiveness. and l-finesse or not doesn't matter to me, as long as the car looks good

The way i read it, they're just gonna drop the L-Finesse wording for marketing not change the design of the cars... i think.

I think even the ES looks great, as compared to its competition.

And I agree with Andrew and Henry

Would be nice if some Lexus models had more exciting exterior designs. The recent models from Audi show that a car can be elegant and aggressive at the same time.

But wow, abandoning L Finesse already? I was hoping to see what the SC, RX and GX L Finesse redesigns would bring.

By abandoning, I think they mean future designs, I think those models you mention above probably would be in the works for quite some time already.

I'm surprised so many people don't like the ES350. I think the rear rivals any Lexus. The front just needs a couple nip and tucks but resembles the LS. The side is typical ES. But that rear just looks so nice imo.

I really like the currently Lexus lineup. To be honest, I like the
ES350 body style better than I like the current GS...

The SC needs a re-do in amajor way, and the IS needs
a coupe and convertible version ASAP.
