As NBC heads into nostalgic reverse with a "Knight Rider" remake, the voice of K.I.T.T. is changing gears.
A carmaker conflict led NBC to hireVal Kilmer to replace Will Arnett as the TV movie's intelligent supercar, Variety reports.
Arnett -- who played the magician brother on "Arrested Development," the figure-skating brother in "Blades of Glory" and the brother you skipped in "The Brothers Solomon" -- had completed work for "Knight Rider," which airs Saturday at 8. But K.I.T.T.'s new make and model, it turns out, was a no-no.
For years, Arnett has been under contract as the voice of GMC Trucks. But NBC's new supercar is a Ford Mustang, and Ford heavily backs the movie. GM cried foul, so Arnett "had to respectfully withdraw," he told Variety.
And that's how Kilmer became "Knight Rider's" huckleberry.

Watched it tonight on DVR - good Lord, Justin Bruening makes Hasselhoff look like an ACTOR! Enough teenage angst in this thing to make at least two Spiderman movies.

hehe.. just finished watching the whole freakin 2 hrs premier. I was like... er.. dawson's creek meets fast and the furious using domestics.
I dont know who the target audience for this new series is: nostalgic 80's or teens. Is the Hoff going to be in this .. being as the new michael is his son? I think the end kinda had a body double posing as him standing at the edge of the gathering .. (didnt want to spoil for those who actually care).
Who's the girl? She's cute.. although she sorta looks like a skinnier shannen dougherty. we also got some girl on girl fbi agent thing going on??? heheh..

Dunno, I might want that Ford Edge that hung on in KITT's rear window through all the chase sequences. It may be a test bed for something pretty spectacular - and it doesn't even have KITT's objectionable whine - from either the supercharger or the computer . . .

I guess the marketing wasn't that good for the show since I heard nothing about the premiere of it. I saw one teaser commercial a few weeks ago which gave know info and that's it.
So I missed it.
