Post Can you legally drive a right-side wheeled car in the States??

I went to this site and they are importing numerous amounts of foreign tuners but they all have the steering wheel on the other side and I kinda figured it would cause confusion in the states(United States)

Just imagine getting flicked and the cop comes to your car on the left side?lol or if you go to the drive-thru to get something to eat and your wheel is on the other side!! Or u pull up to a tollbooth!! But I know u get wut I'm saying!

AS long as the car meets Californias Emissions requirements and is smog legal; right side-left side doesnt make a difference. I have seen plenty of right hand drive vehicles on the road. Poor example, a lot or rural mail carriers will do this to make delivering the mail easier than having to drive from the center of having to reach over the passenger seat to deliver mail.

An old friend of mine worked for a limo firm that had an older British right-hand-drive Rolls Royce, with no legal problems. In fact, I got to try it out and drive it myelf once.

And, just a few days ago, at the D.C. Auto Show, Nissan had a right-hand drive GT-R on display.

And, as trukn1 noted, mail-carriers use right-drive vehicles every day. In fact, Saturn once marketed a special-order, right-hand drive S-series wagon back in the late 90s, primarily for USPS fleet orders, but also to the general public if desired.

Nope.

I can ride my motorcycle on the right-half of the lane, and I haven't been pulled over once!

My '65 Lotus Super Seven is right hand drive. I thought I'd have problems with the gear shift on the left but didn't present a problem. It was hard to pass other cars when you're sitting on the right so unless is was REALLY clear I'd just stay put.

Not related to the steering position but the Seven is so low, other cars just wouldn't see it and change lanes on top of me. Now that is scary!

I remember seeing a lady drive a RHD Subaru out near Grand Haven once. I LOL'd and gave her a thumbs up.

The only issue may be seeing oncoming traffic when making a left. You may get a beep from the horn behind you because the lane will be clear and you won't know it especially if there is a car on the other side also making a left. Other than that, it should be a blast! Confuses the heck outta people.

That's when you get out of your car and shout to the person behind you:

"Are you honking at me? Are you FREAKIN' HONKIN' at ME?!?"

hahaha, I remembered when I drove the R32 GTR down to the states, it was fun, everybody that caught a glimpse just started staring and one lady was on the highway in the passenger seat of this minivan I saw kept poking and yelling at her husband that's driving to look and pointing at me. lol

It's fun to have that kind of attention sometimes, but not daily I'd say....

legally no problem.. just would be a PITA if you're going into parking structures where you need to pay for parking because the booth is usually on the left side
